STEEL BODY, FORD 302CI MOTOR, AOD TRANS, AWESOME INTERIOR, HIGH END BUILT ROD!
1931 Ford 5-Window Coupe
This superbly built 5-Window Coupe was a labor of love. That level of care and attention demanded that the build be superior. So, the best in the business were called in to help with the other phases. The results are stunning. And if you appreciate good documentation, then you will love the restoration photos and build files that go along with this car.
As you approach this car you can immediately tell that there is something special about it. It has a super clean look and just the right amount rake dialed into the chassis. You may be able to notice that this is an all steel body by some details like the top has been chopped 2 5/8 inches and filled with a late model roof panel. You won't see any door hinges, as they are hidden, and the windshield is flush mounted. There are other subtle details like a modified, original hood, and rear fenders that have been shortened by 3 inches. Get closer and you will start to appreciate the near perfect, two-tone paint of Merlot Jewel over Pewter, with great custom striping by Dale Dinse. A Brookville '32 grill shell was used up front and Dietz headlights light the way at night. The hood sides look great in place, but are removable if you prefer that look, or just for a change of pace, and American Racing Torque Thrust wheels complete the picture perfectly.
Open the door and pause for a minute to take in an overall view of the custom interior. First, the owner handled the dash work by carrying the Merlot Jewel paint inside and gracing the upper dash with white faced VDO gauges. Below them in the center, power window switches flank the Vintage Air controls for heat and A/C. A steering wheel was machined from a solid piece of metal and sandwiched in gorgeous wood, then installed on a Cadillac tilt column. Then Allens Trim Shop took over, and the upholstery in this car is over the top. Literally. This interior doesn't have a headliner, it has another upholstered surface that compliments the door panels and seats in gray and maroon. The nice taught panels with pleated inserts are works of art. A custom console built into the headliner houses the Kenwood audio system as well as the interior lights and rear-view mirror. Late model bucket seats were reupholstered to match with "Ford" embroidered into them, and finally, plush carpets were installed.
As you would expect, attention to detail carries through to the drivetrain too. The engine compartment has a recessed firewall and mimics the fins on the hood sides with fins on the air filter housing and valve covers. The engine itself is a Ford 302 that has been built to run. Starting out with a .030 overbore, the bottom end was fully balanced and then had a Comp cam and lifter kit slid into place. The engine breathes through an Edelbrock intake and carb, and exhausts through Patriot headers and Magnaflow mufflers. A Walker Cobra radiator makes sure temperatures stay under control. A 4-speed automatic with a few of its own mods, sends the power back to a Ford 8-inch rear end located by a 4-link suspension with Carrera coil over shocks. The solid front axle is dropped 4 inches with P&J shocks. Front discs brakes with a Wilwood master cylinder assure that you can get all that awesome reeled back in if you decide to let it run.
Check out the superior workmanship on this car, then ask about the pictures to document the build that goes with it. You might decide that this is the car you have been looking for.
