This is a REAL 68 J code 4 speed Mustang Coupe rolling shell. It has no drive line included with it except a 1977 T-10 top loader 4 speed in the trunk from a 1977 Mustang V8 Cobra.
This car is nearly all rust free! Years ago someone put tin over front floors but all they really need is the outer front floor piece on drivers side and pinholes were on passenger side. The body is RUST FREE! The frames and torque boxes are excellent!
The engine bay has had some shock tower welding done to repair a few stress cracks which was common is V8 4 barrel 4 speed cars but other than that it's really nice.
I did a Marti report and this car was ordered with the J code 302 4 barrel and 4 speed. It had 3:00 to 1 ratio conventional rear end and drum front brakes which are still present. It was also ordered with power steering but it has been converted to manual steering over the years. The rear end has new brakes and the center pumpkin was taken out and rebuilt and new gasket installed and re-assembled. It also had factory Tach and trip odometer and 4 speed floor console but of course those are gone. It was ordered in Meadowlark Yellow with Blackout hood paint and Black side C stripe and Black Vinyl top. Interior was standard Black bucket seat with Head rests. The factory head rests are still there!
It was ordered with deluxe wheel covers as well.
This car needs total restoration but the fact that it is a real J code 4 speed car makes it very worth while to build! The clutch pedals are still present as well as the clutch rod and the z-bar return spring is still hanging there!
Most V8 4 barrel 4 speed cars never survived as they were raced to death or wrecked!
