1987 Ford Bronco XLT
1987 Ford Bronco XLT is equipped with the 4-speed manual transmission and 4wd, manual locking hubs allow for better fuel consumption (off) or shift on the fly (when on).
I purchased this meticulously cared for vehicle on eBay in July '15 from an estate sale -- it had 49k miles and I have absolutely enjoyed driving it regularly. I have not used it off-road but it is certainly capable. It starts right up and drives flawlessly, 4wd has been engaged without any issue in fresh fallen snow...I play in the snow before those plows come through and toss down salt! It is used almost every weekend for doing errands around town -- as noted I do avoid driving it when there is salt on our Pennsylvania roads in the winter because of its age.
I always have an 80's era 5.0 Ford sitting around to tinker with, enjoy, and then flip after 2-3 years -- this is one well-cared for Bronco that looks stunning, it is flat-out dependable as a daily driver or garage queen, get out and drive this one without any worries! The work I've done has ensured its reliability because I drive it to our beach bungalow often in the summer (150 miles one-way), only the old battery has failed while I've owned it.
·AutoCraft Silver battery, heavy duty alternator, positive terminal/ lead were immediately fitted to replace the old.
·During my ownership I've also installed a new GMB High Performance water pump, new drive belts, washer fluid pump and reservoir, spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor, and rear differential pinion seal.
·Brand new 33 gallon fuel tank, sending unit, and pumps have been fitted to ensure reliability. Fuel tank was coated with bed-liner to ensure longevity for many years...I have pics of the tank build that I can share.
·High quality 2-stage respray (blue areas) above the original beltline striping was applied by Manderbach Ford; 2 dime-sized surface dents were fixed (one on each door), new window sweeps and mirrors were installed at the same time...the paint matches perfectly and the truck appears as if new (see pics!). Original striping decal shows some patina after 30 years but is 100% intact.
·Ford factory chrome bumpers were tired looking so both front / rear were replaced with OE-Quality steel replacements (triple nickel plated) from LMC Truck.
·Brand new aluminum alloy wheels and 29" Goodyear Wrangler tires were fitted last year.
·I have since put in a front-leveling kit so this Bronco will accept 32" tires next time without any modifications -- all 4 OE shocks were upgraded with Gabriel Max-Control.
·Kenwood eXcelon head unit (CD) and speakers sound excellent, I also ran a high-level input for streaming music via mobile phones, the plug is located discretely into the ashtray so you can hide when not in-use. I can include the original Ford 'Premium Sound' cassette deck if you are interested...it works.
·All driveline (engine/transfer case/differential) and braking fluids have been replaced with Valvoline synthetics.
There is NO rust on this Bronco!
