1966 Ford Mustang

Up for sale a 1966 Mustang 302 v8 -automatic- limited slip 4 wheel disc brakes. She has a throw back look to early Trans AM racing days- this car turns heads!

Full description of this Mustang-

Car has a relatively low mileage crate engine mild 302 (15-20k estimated miles ) swapped into a what was originally a 6 cylinder car. Edelbrock RPM manifold, summit carb, HEI ignition and dual exhaust exiting through glass packs give a classic sound. New interstate battery- Car is very reliable.

If your familiar with Mustangs you know that this car would have had a 4 lug bolt pattern and manual drum brakes when it was new. A proper upgrade of entire front suspension and steering linkage is necessary swap going to a V8, and this car was done right. CSRP kit furnished everything from spindles, bearings, new tie rods, disc brakes and calipers. Along with new lowering springs and KYB shocks the upper A-arms were relocated in what is called either an Arny or Carol Shelby drop, Then a 1.25 sway bar was added along with roller bearing spring perches and adjustable strut rod arms from Street or Track. Brakes are now dual reservoir with an adjustable proportioning valve going to the rear disc brakes. Both the steering and brakes remain manual with out power assist. Keeps weight down and provides good feed back. 235/45/17 tires provide the grip up front with out rubbing!

In back is a narrowed 8.8" rear end with all new bearings out of a Ford Explorer- Narrowed to match the factory width but also to properly center the drive line to the Mustang body. This gives a limited slip rear end, 3:73 gears and 4 wheel disc brakes. Cable actuated emergency brake is possible but not hooked up. 255/50/17 stuffed into the rear provide the traction but with some rubbing hitting the bumps. There are new Centerlines with a custom offset to get this much tire under the 1966 body.

Interior and glass are all in pretty good stock looking shape and the upholstery had been replaced by the previous owner- seam tears in the driver side seat are the only visible wear cracks in the upholstery. The steering wheel has some cracking as well.

What is amazing about this car is the almost complete lack of rust. A solid car throughout, however the paint is far from pretty. Something was done wrong on an old repaint, clear coat is peeling, adhesion problems in places and the roof has completely lost its color. We embraced the weathered look and the family threw on some hand painted graphics that give the vintage Trans Am feel that made you look! Thumbs up all the time going down the road. Fenders have been rolled to make room for those large tires so there is flaking of the paint from that process. A small dent in the passenger door pictured. So allow for little surface rust in places that sells the look.

Known issues is that car does not have the C4 kick down linkage to properly kick the automatic down- not something you need much with 3:73 gears and the B&M ratchet shifter has a stiff cable- a overdrive transmission would would be best to complete this resto mod so these were back burner items that were not addressed. Oil Pressure gauge in the dash is intermittent in operation- appears to be the gauge itself- could use a new radio. Other than that this is a driver that you can enjoy immediately once you take possession. Please ask questions the reserve is set at only $11,500. $1,000 due with in 48 hours of winning the auction and 10 Calendar days to make arrangements for balance. Mileage indicated is beyond mechanical limits. Car located near Boise, Idaho. I might be able to assist for a fee to deliver car with in a 300 mile radius.
