FEEL FREE TO EMAIL IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. THERE ARE A COUPLE PICS OF OTHER COOL VANS BELOW. I WILL ALSO BE GETTING A PICTURE OF THE BACK OF THE THIS VAN.1949 FORD P100 VANETTE
This is a neat old van and somewhat rare to find. I've seen quite a few of the 1951 and up ford vans around but only a couple 1948-1950 models. These vans make cool vending trucks for food, coffee, cold treats, tshirts, hotrod parts, etc. etc. One of a kind drag rig or kustom build? It would make a cool tow rig and it's already rigged up to sleep in it. Below are all the details.Clear title. Thanks and happy bidding. Feel free to ask questions. Email if your interested in doing something early on it.
MECHANICAL
The van has an inline flathead six cylinder. Three on the tree manual transmission. I have not tried to get it running or turn the engine over. It looks like it hasn't been running in a long time. If you care, I can try to turn the engine over for you and see it it's locked or not. The clutch and transmission work. As in, it shifts into all gears and the clutch works and will hold it on a steep incline. The brakes don't work and are manual. Manual steering. Not much else to say really. I have not checked the electrical system or put a battery in it. It rolls and steers and will have tires on it that hold air. These vans are easy to subframe the frontend or just put on newer chassis. Many metro's and other makes have been done and info is easy to find online. It would be cool to restore the van back to original but I would guess the flathead six is underpowered for city or freeway driving. It may be ok for putting around or rural areas though.
BODY
The body is in better shape than it looks. It was painted a couple times and the paint on the body joints has chipped off on the sides. This is not rust-through. It's mostly surface rust but pitted in a couples spots. Very solid overall though. No rust in the floors or frame. I'm not sure if there is any rust-through anywhere, but I'll double check that. The body is single wall metal, mostly flat, so any rust spots (if there are any) are easy to repair anyways. The glass may have some cracked or bubbling, but it is all flat glass and relatively easy/cheap to replace if needed. All doors operate properly. Clear title that matches the body tag. No large dents. The front bumper is included. Roof will need resealed at the joints. it is flat metal panels jointed and probably just had seam sealer originally. It's been resealed before but needs it again or welded.
INTERIOR
The interior is pretty simple in this. I think the pics show what there is to show. The rv conversion stuff is in surprisingly good shape. It's primarily just cabinets, table/bed. I'm not sure if there is 110 electric or any plumbing or propane but I can look that over better if you'd like. Floors in nice shape. It had carpet but I removed it. Drivers seat needs recovered. It would be pretty easy to fix up the interior. Many people put little bars in these when they're built as rods.I go to a lot of car shows andit's rare to seea cool short bus fixed up. It is also difficult to find an older short bus this clean. When there is a custom or restored one, there is a crowd around it.
