Description:
1965 Ford F-100 --
I am selling at NO RESERVE a nice 1965 Ford F100 that has only 73k original miles. With the exception of a few things, the truck is largely the same way it was when built in San Jose, CA back in February of 1965. To my knowledge, the truck has never had any paint touch up work, repaired body panels, or cancer/rust repair. The only body/interior parts that have been replaced during my ownership are the tailgate, glove compartment, ash tray, and seat. The F100 has been stored inside for the majority of its life, as rust free as a mid-60's rig can be (see pictures) and that has had a ton of recent work done to it. The truck has had the same owner since 1990. The truck is still very original with its "Light Peacock" paint, body panels, 240 C.I.D 6 cylinder motor with a 1V carb, 3 speed manual transmission on the tree, chrome trim, hubcaps, etc.The floor boards in the truck are very nice. The typical F100/Bronco rust spots such as the door jambs, rockers, door pillars, engine compartment, etc. are nice. I do not want to say the truck is "rust free" as some consider thin paint or light surface rust an issue on older rigs. But, I would love to see a better 1960's example that has less "rust" as this in the same price point. To be expected, the body is not perfect. It does have some scratches, dings, and paint fade/thin paint spots where original "patina" begins. Basically, the body is good considering it has not been through a restoration and has been lightly used as a work/shop/farm truck.
The interior is overall very good. The metal dash, gauge cluster, and dash face are excellent. The door jams are clean. The truck even has 2/3 of the original Ford rubber mat (it was worn out on the driver's size and was cut out). I just put in new oil pressure and temperature gauges. The fuel gauge works correctly as does the Speedometer/odometer. The seat is not original. The seat does not have any rips/tears but does have some light stains on it. It is missing seat belts. To accommodate a taller driver, the behind the seat gas tank was relocated to the bed of the truck. It is only held in by 3 bolts. So, relocating it behind the seat again should be simple. I have not done that yet as the new owner may be tall as well.
Until last weekend, the truck had an old canopy on it since the 1970's. The canopy protected the fuel tank and the bed. The bed is very nice and was rhino lined a few years ago. There is no cancer/rust in the bed. I thought the truck looked better without the canopy and decided to throw it out.
Some recent work done on the F100 includes: full brakes, front wheel bearings, battery, starter, alternator, coil, carburetor rebuild, fuel filter, air filter, oil change, spark plugs, exhaust, and much more. Please note, the new muffler that was put on it is now coming apart. It is not crazy loud. But, if one wanted it quieter, one could replace the muffler. I have a $70 part/install quote from a local muffler shop.
To be expected with any old car or truck, it does have a couple of small oil leaks, rattles, and old car smells. This is the beauty of the truck. If you are expecting it to drive like a 2017 Ford, it will not. While it does drive great, it is not a new car and lacks the luxury new rigs have. It has been largely sitting in a shop for the last few years and really needs to be driven/used.
The 1961-1966 Ford F-100 trucks are becoming very popular and collectible. One could easily part out this truck out for quite a bit of money. But, knowing how nice this is for being original, it would be a shame to part out. It has a little "rat-rod" patina to it and is a blast to drive. It would make an excellent work truck, restoration candidate, or fun truck to take to a car show that does not cost 10 times my asking price. I have a clear Oregon title/bill of sale in hand. With all of this said, the factory warranty for the truck expired close to 50 years ago. If Ford no longer provides a warranty, neither can I. The truck is being sold "as-is" where is with no guarantees or set-asides. I am happy to assist with shipping or personal/professional inspection. If you have any questions or would like additional pictures, please call 503-70 three-406 five. Thanks for looking and Happy New Year!
