Up for your viewing and bidding pleasure is one Boss Mustang. This is an 1988 Mustang Saleen foxbody and is an early number 018 edition. She has covered 89,100 miles and has been well maintained and tastefully modded. Even signed by the man himself, Steve Saleen! The extremely rare black and gold theme is stunning and attracts a crowd whenever parked. This car is truly a pleasure to drive and really moves with around 300 horse and a bit over that in torque according to a dyno.
The body is in quite nice shape and the paint has a beautiful shine to it. The black and gold theme really set this car off and in my opinion is the most attractive color combo.There are various rock chips and slight imperfections upon a close inspection but nothing that really detracts from the overall appearance. Nice shape for an almost 30 year old car. The rims currently on the car are real Saleens and look fantastic, the tires could stand to be replaced on these wheels as they have sat a bunch in recent years and are developing cracks. The included original wheels are in beautiful shape with nice rubber on them.
The interior has all the special Saleen furnishings you would expect to find, and is in truly nice shape for a car of this vintage. Everything works and functions appropriately. The only aftermarket thing I see is the stereo. But I believe the EQ is stock.
The Engine starts right up with no funny noises and sounds awesome with a mild exhaust note. Nothing obnoxious, just enough to let you know your driving American muscle! The transmission shifts great with no grinding and in first and second this car pulls hard. The intake, headers, underdrive pulley, exhaust are aftermarket but most stock parts are included. Runs great and has good oil pressure and the temp gauge stays right where it should. Has bigger Cobra brakes up front . This is a really nice running and driving, well sorted Mustang.
Over all, I believe this to be a fantastic example of a Saleen foxbod, this is a drivers car and would take very little to be brought to the next level. Just addressing the rock chips would put this car above most, and rest assured this is truly an 89k car, and is nicer than most that are advertised with half the miles.
