Up for auction is a beautiful 1970 Ford Ranchero 500. This car is sporting 90% of its original paint with the exception of a few small blend on a few spots on car, certainly not collision damage. The paint is very presentable but original to the car so there are definitely some age related issues but I didn't have the heart to strip and repaint it as they are only original once so I left it original. It is very presentable and looks pretty darn good for being 47 years old! It was sold as a lease turn in in 1973 at Crenshaw Ford in Los Angeles, CA and has been owned by the same loving owner since then. This Ranchero 500 is 1 of 8300 built in 1970 but very few remain. This car is a true survivor in every sense of the word. The only rust on the car is very light rusting in the lower rear quarters from car wash water getting trapped in the lower panels, car was a life long Southern CA car until 2005 when it was moved to garaged storage here in Arizona.
The 351 and C-6 Transmission make a great combination. Everything works as it should. This car was owned and maintained by a lifelong aircraft engineer and pilot so everything was religiously maintained. He rode Harleys back and forth to work everyday and this was his date night and weekend ride. The original 351 has always had the oil changed every 3,000 miles with Pennzoil only. He also added a rare Franz aux oil filter to self keep the motor purring. Carb was also just rebuilt. The custom GT-Mags are in awesome shape and so period correct!
The car is a rare thing to see these days with the disposable world of automobiles. This was a true piece of Detroit Steel and its owner recognized the fact that he just couldn't replace this old rig so he kept it as nice as he could for his entire 45 years of ownership. The truck includes full volumes of Ford service manuals and original owners manual and ORIGINAL California Black Plates. You cant make up a story like this folks. Give me a call to discuss.
