Description:
1988 Ford Mustang
Hi. for sale is my long term project. its a 1988 ford mustang lx coupe. i bought it locally about 13 years ago, then when chicago's KING OF THE STREET event came around i started setting it up for that, E85 classes, etc. original 4cyl automatic, non a/c, manual everything car, one of the lighter fox mustangs offered. comes with the lightweight front face bar and shock mounts, rear steel bumper already por15'd and prepped. both lx bumper covers, but i'd recommend replacement. both fenders included, (not pictured, in storage) and all glass except windshield. rear glass is factory non defroster, and all glass had vin etched at the dealer, i though that was kind of cool.clean title.
86xxx original miles.
car was fairly rusty when i purchased it, which evolved into a full-on rotissierie sandblast and seal. the underside is 100% sealed up under por15, sealer, then 4-1 bedliner. not the cheap stuff.
chassis work performed:
6pt roll bar, mild steel. (we never got around to door bars before chassis shop closed)
through the floor subframe connectors.
tin floor, stock trans tunnel.
tin trunk, no spare tire well.
rear seat delete/sealed off.
custom trans crossmember mounts that utilize stock crossmembers.
frame modified, gussetted, and reinforced for turbo clearance (the car the turbo kit came from was a gutted turd car)
tubular lower core support, with trans cooler/intercooler/radiator mounts.
battle box style control arm supports.
suspension:
front is upr k-member, 70/30 coilovers, upr c/c plates. rear are stock v8 springs, cheapo shock, non adjustable control arms, all high gloss black powdercoat. steering is a flaming river manual rack, stock column. there is a plug or seal missing, f/r still offers it for $30, never got around to ordering it.
body: mostly stock or stock type work, but a ton of little details were done throughout the car. also, the rear fender lips were shaved, tucked, and 'glassed. should fit a 28x10 no problem. engine bay was extensively modified and painted gloss pearl white.
fuel:
16? gallon fuel cell with foam, sumped out under car.
aeromotive a1000 pump, pre/post filters. no fuel lines run. stock style fuel level sender.
engine:
331" stock block 5.0. bottom end studded and girdled. clevite 77 bearings. brand new cam bearings. hi vol oil pump. modified canton sheet metal pan.
diamond racing pistons
eagle rods
CAT forged crank.
never run. i put it together, i would recommend you take it down and double check everything in the interest of being thorough.
engine needs carb, intake, heads, cam. i have rockers and pushrods available for sale as well.
trans:
brand new lentech aod with pushbuttom overdrive. built for 1000hp. 2800-3000 converter. b & m hammer shifter. cost almost $3000. bolt in and go. comes with x-member.
rear end:
stripped bare, put in a jig, straigtened, tubes welded with triangulation added for support. solid bushings. 31 spline strange axles with extended 1/2" studs. it does have a posi in it, i do not remember what brand. 3.73 ratio (not positive but im pretty sure). ground pounder cover, aerospace rear disc conversion. everything powdercoated to damn near show car quality, disc to disc.
FMS aluminum driveshaft.
brakes:
as stated above, aerospace rear disc conversion. front is either cobra or svt or some sort of ford factory upgraded brakes. cross drilled rotors.
turbo kit : custom 90's fab. everything jet hot coated. i would recommend switching to v-bands, and adding a flex section in the crossover, but otherwise ready to bolt and go. blowoff and wastegate included. intercooler not pictured, but its nothing fancy. schweitzer 88mm turbo. diesel work horse, with 1 hour run time after rebuild. t4 flange. this kit on a 331 with an "e" cam did 10.30's all day everyday in the 90's.
griffin 4 core radiator.
trans cooler with fan.
fan controller.
an entire host of autometer gauges.
shift light.
clean lx taillights.
battery box and wiring kit
alternator.
new starter.
wiring harnesses.
all items pictured. theres TONS im including that isnt even listed. tons of gaskets, hoses, regulators, sensors. you are buying my entire fox mustang program.
you will have to buy other things to finish this project. but you will have the vast majority of what you need, and most of it has been modified or restored to use right away. my health and budget failed me at a crappy time. i will be adding pictures and info throughout the week.
car is for sale locally, so sale can end at any time auction is live.
i will assist in shipping, you would have to pay for a 40' container, a tow truck to drop it off, and a tow truck to pick it up and take it to wherever its going, worldwide. this is at your cost, of course.
Also forgot to mention, it fell off the jackstands when taking it outside for the pix. That's the damage to the lower 1/4 extensions. I estimate 2 hours per side for repair. Ironically, those were the first repairs ever made to the car.

includes heater box and controls, vents, porno red dashboard, most of the red plastics. no seats. gauge surround, harmonic balancer, engine-trans plate and flexplate were powdercoated...i had lofty goals for this car. i think i have new handles, i might even have new headlights somewhere. no hood. i think i already edged out the fenders in white. youll need windshield and most trim/clips. wiper transmission and motor might be around somewhere. tons of hardware (ARP INCLUDED) included, some labelled, some not.
