OLD SCHOOL COOL! NOTHING SAYS COOL LIKE A DROP TOP STANG!
If you are looking for the ultimate classic car, an icon that hearkens back to a simpler more fun time, then look no further! Just the sound of a Mustang is so distinct, you can close your eyes and you will instantly know if one passes by the exhaust note alone. A Mustang isn't just a car, it is an experience!
This first generation drop top was what gave birth to this iconic car! Finished in the sought after red on black color combination and optioned out with FACTORY A/C, 289 V8 engine and an automatic transmission with a factory upgraded deluxe interior...this is the Stang to own!
SO WHAT ARE THE SPECIFICS OF THE CAR? LET'S BREAK DOWN THE TRIM TAG:
The vin is 6F08C195933. The "F" means the car was built in Dearborn, Michigan. The "08" means it was built as a convertible. The "C" means it was born with a 289 2 barrel carb V8 engine. I believe the rest of the numbers are build numbers but I'm not sure on those.
Going onto the rest of the trim tag which you can see in the photo. "Body 76B" denotes it is a convertible with a luxury upgraded interior with bucket seats.
"Color 5" denotes it was finished in Signal Flare Red.
"Trim 66" denotes it is a black luxury interior (essentially saying interior was black and upgraded).
"Date 14M" The M stands for a build date of December 1965 and I'm guessing the 14 stands for the 14th day?
"D.S.O. 61" denotes the District Sales Office for this specific car was Dallas, Texas!
"Axle 6" denotes it is a 2.80 rear end and the "Trans 6" denotes it was born with a C-4 automatic transmission.
FIT AND FINISH: This car is absolutely a head turning beauty! The body is in absolutely wonderful shape all the way around as evidenced in the photos. The seams are all pretty flush and the doors shut with ease. The convertible top went up and down with ease and fits nice and tight. Chrome all the way around is nice, but I wouldn't peg it as perfect. Paint is a definite attention getter but upon close inspection you can see it is starting to age and will need a nice refinish soon. In my opinion I would say this car is a nice five footer. From five feet it looks exceptional, if you get closer you'll see that the car is starting to age and doesn't need much to make it a top level car.
MECHANICALLY: This car drives phenomenal! It starts right up with ease, doesn't smoke, has smooth acceleration with an absolutely addicting exhaust note and the transmission shifts nice and crisp...just how you want it! Suspension is nice and tight...this car drives great. After these pictures were taken we noticed the tires were aged so those were changed to a different brand. This was too nice of a car to have aged tires on...it took away from the smoothness of the ride which was since remedied. The a/c blows nice and cold too. This car was owned by a mechanic specialist for years...a guy that literally eats, breathes and lives Mustangs. This is the type of guy you want to buy a car from! Enthusiasts are the ones that go overboard with caring for their classics!
OVERALL IMPRESSION: This is a turn-key classic that can easily be used as a daily summer cruiser if you so choose. Absolutely a blast to drive, and lots of fun to be seen in! For this price range you couldn't ask for more! There are dealers asking the same price or more for cars that were not original 8cyl, or were not original a/c or upgraded interior cars. This car is a rarity in my opinion and in this price range I truly think this is the best you could ask for! Of course opinion is always up to interpretation, but I'm sure if you came out and saw this beauty in person you would agree with me!
THIS IS ONE OF THOSE RARE CHANCES THAT YOU OFTEN HEAR ABOUT...THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY...THAT CAR THAT YOU SHOULD'VE TAKEN THE PLUNGE ON! THIS IS IT!
