THIS IS A GREAT START TO A PROJECT TRUCK THAT CAN BE A RESTORE IT AS YOU DRIVE IT TYPE BUDGET BUILD OR IS A EXCELLENT CANDIDATE FOR A FULL ON BUILD OR RESTORATION. THIS TRUCK FIRES RIGHT UP, RUNS, DRIVES,IS VERY COMPLETE AND ORIGINAL. IT IS A NICELY OPTIONED TRUCK IN SPRINGTIME YELLOW AND WIMBLEDON WHITE TWO TON THAT CAME WITH THE CAMPER SPECIAL AND SPORT CUSTOM PKG, SO IT HAD THE FULL EXTERIOR DELUXE TRIM. IT CAME WITH THE 360 V8, AUTOMATIC, POWER STEERING AND IS A POWER DISC BRAKE TRUCK. PLEASE CHECK OUT THE 100 DETAILED PICS AND THE VIDEO AT THE BOTTOM OF THE AD!
AS YOU CAN TELL BY OUR NAME OR OUR PAST AUCTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE SEEN THAT WE ARE ALWAYS ON THE HUNT FOR ODD BALLS, CLEAN CLASSIC ORIGINAL SURVIVORS AND CLASSIC TRUCKS, SO THIS VAN BEING THE PERFECT COMBO OFF ALL I HAD TO HAVE IT. THAT OF COURSE IS ALSO MY DOWN FALL AND SOMETIMES I GET EMOTIONALLY INVOLVED IN VEHICLES IN WHAT THEY ONCE WERE AND CAN AGAIN BE WITH A LITTLE WORK AND JUST WANT TO BREATHE THAT NEW LIFE INTO THEM, BUT IT ALSO CAN OFTEN BE CALLED A PROBLEM OR HORDING :) SO WITH FUTURE PLANS ON LARGER PERSONAL PROJECTS I'VE REALIZED I HAVE TO THIN THE HERD ON MY STASH OF SOME VEHICLES AND RESTORATION PROJECT TRUCKS, SO YOU MAY SEE A FEW GREAT CANDIDATES FILTER OUT HERE AND THERE IN THE HIGHBOY, C10 AND IH SCOUT DEPARTMENT (MY THREE SOFT SPOTS) WITH THAT SAID THIS TRUCK WITH A LITTLE BIT OF WORK CAN HONESTLY BE LEFT ASCETICALLY AS-IS AND DRIVEN FOR YEARS AND YEARS AS AN OLD WORK HORSE, BUT I COULDN'T IMAGINE A MORE HONEST OR DESERVING CANDIDATE FOR A PARTIAL SYMPATHETIC RESTORATION TO A FULL FRAME OFF BUILD AS IT IS A TRUE ORIGINAL AND ICONIC 70'S CLASSIC!!! THIS TRUCK IS FROM AN ERA WHEN LIFE WAS TRULY DIFFERENT AND MANY OF US RESPECT AND LOOK BACK IN FONDNESS. THIS F250 ONLY HAS S 5 DIGIT ODOMETER THAT SHOWS 71147 AND ROLLS OVER AT 100K, SO WE REALLY HAVE NO IDEA OF THE TRUE MILES. IT IS ODO EXEMPT IN WASHINGTON STATE AND WILL SAY THAT ON THE PURCHASE ORDER. PLEASE REAR FURTHER AND WATCH THE VIDEO TO GET THE BEST IDEA OF THIS BEAUTY.
BODY-THE WORD SURVIVOR ON CLASSICS IS A PRETTY STANDARD TERM NOW DAYS ON ANY OLDER VEHICLE IN ORIGINAL CONDITION AND ESPECIALLY WITH ORIGINAL PAINT, BUT THIS 72 TO ME IS A TRUE SURVIVOR. THIS F250 WEARS IT'S YEARS AND SCARES THAT KIND OF TELLS IT'S LIFE STORY LIKE A OPEN BOOK SHOWING WHAT A TRUCK GOES THROUGH AFTER BEING A REGISTERED AND ACTIVE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD EVERY YEAR FOR OVER 4 DECADES. AS YOU GO AROUND THIS TRUCK WITH ALL IT'S WEAR IN THE PAINT WITH CHIPS, SCRATCHES, FADED PAINT AND SURFACE RUST ALONG WITH A FEW LITTLE WHISKEY DENTS FROM BEING WORKED, USED AND JUST PLAIN DRIVEN FOR THE LAST 45 YEARS. TO ME THAT IS WHAT ADDS TO THE APPEAL AND DESIRE WHEN LOOKING FOR THAT WORKHORSE FARM TRUCK LOOK ON A CLASSIC AND THINKING OF HOW MUCH CHANGE IN THE ROADS, TRAFFIC, POPULATION, THE EVOLUTION IN VEHICLES AND JUST THE MILES OF SCENERY THIS TRUCK HAS TAKEN IN AND THE CHANGES THAT FOLLOWED IN THEM THROUGH THE YEARS . MY ORIGINAL INTENTION ON THIS TRUCK WAS TO HUNT OUT A MATCHING ORIGINAL PAINT PASSENGER DOOR, SINCE THIS ONE HAD BEEN SWAPPED OUT AT SOME POINT, GET A NICER GRILLE, FIX ANY LEAKS OR ISSUES IN THE DRIVE-TRAIN, SWAP IN A NEW INTERIOR AND KEEP THAT TOUGH FARM TRUCK LOOK AND I THINK THAT WOULD STILL BE A GREAT DIRECTION FOR THIS TRUCK AS THESE OLD LACQUER PAINTS ALWAYS GIVE A GREAT SHINE NO MATTER HOW MANY SCRATCHES OR DINGS THEY HAVE. THIS TRUCK DOES HAVE SURFACE RUST FROM PAINT WEAR, BUT IT IS A VERY SOLID TRUCK WITH VERY LITTLE ACTUAL CANCER. AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICS ALL THE MOST VULNERABLE AREAS ARE SOLID AND DRY. IF YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE INNER AND OUTER ROCKERS, DOG LEGS, A & B PILLARS, UNDER SIDE OF HOOD, BATTERY BOX, INNER FENDERS, FIREWALL, COWL, RAIN GUTTERS, FRONT WINDSHIELD AREA OF CAB, BODY MOUNTS, BOTTOM SIDE OF ORIGINAL DOOR AND BESIDES A LITTLE SURFACE RUST FROM WEAR THE FLOORS ARE VERY SOLID. WITH THERE IS A SPOT ON THE BOTTOM BACK OF THE PASSENGER FENDER, SOME ON THE VERY INNER BOTTOM UNDER LIP OF THE CAB THAT CAN ONLY BE SEEN WHEN YOU GET UNDER THE TRUCK AND IT IS RIGHT WHERE THEY JOINED THE CAB ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE. THE PASSENGER DOOR HAS A LITTLE RUST, BUT IS NOT ORIGINAL TO THE TRUCK AND SHOULD GO ANYWAY. THE INSIDE OF THE BED HAS SURFACE RUST FROM THE PAINT BEING WORE OFF DECADES AGO, BUT WOULD CLEAN RIGHT UP TO SOLID METAL IF YOU HIT IT WITH GOOD ABRASIVE TO GET TO BARE METAL. THIS IS ACCIDENT FREE TRUCK THAT HAS ALL ORIGINAL SHEET METAL BESIDES THE RIGHT DOOR, THERE IS NO BIG DENTS A FEW LITTLE DINGS OR SMALL SOFT DENTS ON FROM THE YEARS WITH ON ON BOTTOM OF DRIVER DOOR MOLDING, ONE ON BOTTOM OF PASSENGER DOOR, BOTTOM REAR DRIVER CAB CORNER,ONE RIGHT ABOVE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT, ONE RIGHT ON THE BODY LINE OF THE PASSENGER FENDER AND A COUPLE ON BOTTOM AND TOP OF TAILGATE, BUT IT OPENS AND CLOSES PERFECT. THE FRONT GRILLE IS PUSHED IN A LITTLE AT THE CENTER AND ON DRIVER OUTER EDGE THAT ALSO HAS DAMAGED THE DRIVER SIDE PLASTIC INSERT. AS YOU CAN SEE THERE IS SOME TRIM PIECES MISSING AND ALL PIECES SHOW 45 YEARS OF AGE WITH SOME FADING, SMALL DINGS AND SCRATCHES, BUT MATCH THE OVERALL TRUCK. WHICH EVER WAY YOU PLAN TO GO ON A TRUCK THE BEST THING ABOUT A ORIGINAL TRUCK EVEN IF IT HAS MORE WEAR THEN YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS IT IS A TRUE NO QUESTIONS TRUCK, YOU SEE EXACTLY WHAT YOUR GETTING AN WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT 4 PAINT JOBS DONE IN THE PAST YEARS, BAD BODY WORK OR RUST COVERED UP OR OTHER HIDDEN ISSUES THAT WILL COME TO HAUNT YOU LATER IN THE PROCESS. OVERALL THIS TRUCK DEPENDING ON YOUR TASTE AND PERSONALITY IS EITHER A GREAT BLANK CANVAS FOR YOU BUILD OR IS ONE THAT ALREADY HAS THE FOUNDATION OF THE LOOK YOUR GOING FOR AND IS A CANVAS 80% THERE THAT JUST NEED YOUR HANDS IN IT.
INTERIOR- INSIDE IT IS ALL ORIGINAL AND THIS OLD GIRL SHOWS SOME AGE, BUT KEEP IN MIND THESE TRUCKS WERE NOT BUILT WITH INTERIORS TO LAST MUCH MORE THEN TEN YEARS AND A PICKUP TRUCK WASN'T CONSIDERED TO BE THE FAMILY VEHICLE OR A LUXURY VEHICLE LIKE THEY ARE NOW, THEY SIMPLY WERE STILL A TOOL TO GET A JOB DONE. BESIDES THE ORIGINAL FLOOR MAT EVERYTHING IS STILL THERE AND WE HAVE THE ORIGINAL DOOR PANEL AND ARM REST TO THE FACTORY PASSENGER DOOR. THE DASH IS ACTUALLY IN PRETTY NICE SHAPE AND COULD BE LEFT AS IS WITH NICE FACTORY PAINT ALONG THE METAL PART AND THE BLACK DASH ONLY HAS ONE CENTER CRACK. THE ORIGINAL FLOOR MAT IS LONG GONE AND THE METAL FLOORS HAVE BEEN EXPOSED AND WORN ON, SO THEY HAVE SURFACE RUST IN THE FOOT AREAS, BUT THE FLOOR PANS ARE STILL SOLID METAL THAT WOULD CLEAN RIGHT UP. THE SEAT, DOOR PANELS AND ARM RESTS NEED TO BE RESTORED OR COVERED, BUT THE SEAT SLIDES, THE DOOR OPEN AND CLOSE EASIL, BUT WE DO NOT HAVE DOOR KEYS. THE BLOWER MOTOR AND ADJUSTER LEVERS WORK FINE ALONG WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH, BUT AS SEEN IN THE VIDEO IT IS A OLD TRUCK THAT OFTEN HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN AND SOMETIME THE HEADLIGHTS COME ON A LITTLE AFTER THE REST OF THE LIGHTS. OVERALL THIS INTERIOR IS STILL INTACT AND ISN'T HIDING ANYTHING, BUT WONT BE WINNING BRAGGING RIGHTS AT ANY CAR SHOW. THIS TRUCKS INTERIOR IS READY FOR A DESERVING SYMPATHETIC TO FULL RESTORATION.
MECHANICAL- AS STATED ABOVE THIS IS A ORIGINAL RUNNING AND DRIVING TRUCK THAT IS A PROJECT TRUCK. ALL OF OUR TRUCKS WE HAVE STORED FOR FUTURE WORK OR BUILDS ARE STARTED AND RAN EVERY TWO WEEKS WITH A SHORT DRIVE TO KEEP THE BLOOD PUMPING IN THEM AND FRESH FUEL. WHEN WE GOT THIS TRUCK WE PUT A REBUILT CARBURETOR ON, DRAINED THE FUEL, CHECKED THE INSIDE OF THE TANK, MADE SURE THE FUEL GAUGE AND SENDING UNIT WORK THEN ADDED NEW FUEL. WE ALSO REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND ADDED FRESH COOLANT TO MAKE SURE IT WAS A RUNNER WHEN WE NEEDED IT TO AND ALSO SAFE TO SIT IN WHEN WINTER CAME. THE ORIGINAL 360 V8 ISN'T THE PRETTIEST WITH SOME LITTLE LEAKS HERE AND THERE, BUT FIRES RIGHT UP EVERY-TIME WITH A COUPLE PUMP OF THE THROTTLE, HAS GOOD POWER AND SOUNDS HEALTHY WITH NO SMOKING, LIFTER TICK OR KNOCKS, BUT HAS A PRETTY GOOD EXHAUST LEAK AT THE HEADERS. THIS TRUCK DOES CRUISE DOWN THE ROAD FINE SHIFTING THOUGH ALL THE GEARS, BUT DOES LEAK FLUID THAT IF LEFT IN PLACE FOR ALONG TIME WILL LEAVE SOME MARKS, BUT IT DOESN'T LEAK LIKE IT HAS A HOLE IN THE HEAD. ON THE SHORT DRIVES I HAVE TAKEN IT ON THE BRAKE FEEL GOOD WITH A FIRM PEDAL, SMOOTH STOPS WITH NO PULLING OR NOISES AND STOPS EASILY WITH THE POWER DISC BREAK OPTION. IT HAS POWER STEERING AND EVEN THOUGH I HAVEN'T HAD IT OVER 40 MPH IT FELT PRETTY GOOD, WITH NO LEAKING, SMOOTH STEERING WHEEL RETURN, A PRETTY TIGHT OVER ALL FEEL AND NOT A TON OF PLAY. THE TIRES HAVE NO DRY CRACKS AND ROLL SMOOT, BUT PROBABLY HAVE 30-40% TREAD AT THEIR BEST. THE DRIVE-TRAIN AND OVERALL RUST FREE BODY IS THE BEST PART OF THIS TRUCK AND I THINK WITH SOME CLEAN-UP, SOME GASKET REPLACING ON THE MOTOR AND TRANS IN AREAS AND A FEW BUCKS THROWN AT IT IN SOME ODDS AND ENDS THIS TRUCK MECHANICALLY COULD BE LEFT ORIGINAL, BUT IF DAILY DRIVER IS YOUR GOAL YOU MAY DECIDE TO GO A LITTLE FURTHER AND INVEST A LITTLE MORE FOR FUTURE RELIABILITY.
WHILE I KNOW EVERYONE'S OPINION IS DIFFERENT THIS TRUCK TO ME IS EVERYTHING AN OLD TRUCK SHOULD BE, WHILE IT HAS SOME FLAWS AND SHOWING ITS JOURNEY AND STORY, IT DOESN'T ACT LIKE A MODERN TRUCK, FULFILLS THAT OLD TRUCK NEED AND FEELING A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR, BUT IF YOU HAVE NOT EVER OWNED OR DRIVEN A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO SIMPLY LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF MODERN INVENTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED SINCE THIS TRUCK WAS BORN AND HOW FAR OTHER ITEMS HAVE DEVELOPED OVER THE PAST FEW DECADES AND KEEP IN MIND NEW VEHICLES HAVE THE BOXES TO CHECK FOR COMFORT OPTIONS LIKE LEATHER, HEATED SEATS, NAVIGATION ETC AND VEHICLES OF THIS ERA LOADED MEANT GETTING POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, A BASIC AM STEREO AND A SPARE TIRE :) THIS MAY HELP TO AIM YOUR EXPECTATIONS ON OWNING A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE.
The older the car, the harder it is to define the condition of the vehicle. Most of our vehicles are specialty vehicles or are 15+ years old, and usually trucks. Because of this, it is very difficult to describe each vehicle to everyone’s satisfaction. Based on the bidder's personal experience, some bidders will be overly pleased with my description and pictures, and others may feel that I fell short. I post these auctions based on how I want to see auctions when I’m buying, keeping in mind what I look for, and I try to put your eye's to what I can see and touch. Please help me by asking all questions and letting me know if other pictures are wanted. If you do not see a pic or description of a item or a area on the truck please do not assume anything and ask me about the specifics your a needing or for more pics and i will post every question asked by members so all potential bidders can see. Every car is available for inspection and i personally drive each vehicle before listing it and If anything does not work properly I will let you know. Of course I am only human and these are mechanical creatures and these are used vehicles, so please keep this in mind when bidding.
