1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback - 289 - Ivy Green!
1966 Ford Mustang Fastback
I'm listing this awesome fastback for a friend of mine. If you have any questions after reviewing the pictures and video, please send me a message via eBay and I will refer you to the owner directly.
LOW reserve - please do not ask me what the reserve is. You will be hard pressed to find another Mustang 2+2 of this caliber for the money. This beauty has only had two owners. Current owner purchased 16 years ago and it has been garage kept in that time.
Please take the time to read through the auction description very carefully before submitting any questions. I believe most of your questions will be answered here.

In the video, you'll see what looks like rust along the lip of the trunk (white colored), but that's cob webs. Also, on the passenger door, it looks like there's a lot of rust or damage, but that's just dust.
I have sold Mustangs and Mustang parts (mostly for 1964-1966) for more than 17 years and know a lot about them. This particular Mustang is a great candidate for a mild restoration, or do some minor fixes and drive it as it is. I am not a professional restorer, but do have a LOT of experience with these Mustangs. This description is not meant to be all inclusive - so please ask your questions. I did examine this Mustang very thoroughly. The following is my opinion:
This is amostly original 1966 Mustang 2+2. It's a 289 "C" code, automatic car. It's wearing its original color of Ivy Green and the original interior color of parchment. A stunning color combination. We have the ORIGINAL window sticker for this Mustang, the ORIGINAL owner's manual and original keys! Really awesome.
Mechanical Condition:
- The car is running and driving. In the past 16 years, it has been driven very little. As such, the car should really be gone through/professionally checked out mechanically to make it a safe and reliable driver.
- The battery could stand replacing, as it sometimes needs a boost/charge to get it started.
- Engine sounds very good.
- Transmission goes into gears.
- Factory style 2V Carb could probably stand a rebuild kit. Car hesitates and dies sometimes when you give it gas going up hills or when the engine is under load.
- Has drum brakes.
- Lights all seem to be in working condition.
- Tires should be replaced.
- Has original hubcaps.
- Clear title.
- Unknown actual miles.
Body condition:
- It was repainted by the original owner in green with some metallic to it. The paint is failing in several places on the car and you can see evidence of older body work. To be a show car, you'd want to repaint it.
- From what I could tell, the car doesn't seem to have ever been in a collision. The lines are very good on this car and all panels match up well with good gaps.
- Both rear quarter panels will need work. There was body work done to both at one time, as you can see evidence of body filler. My guess is both rear quarters will need replacing; possibly just lower rear quarters.
- Frame rails look very good up front, with a little rust on one side.
- Floor pans are in overall good condition. One spot of rust/rust through on both front floor pans where the floor pan meets the toe panel.
- Rear frame rails need to be fixed where the leaf springs mount to the back part of the rails. As such, the sections in the trunk that the frame rails mount to also need to be replaced soon.
- There are a couple spots here and there where you can see older body work failing.
- Few dings on the vehicle. Some surface rust spots.
- Bumpers have some dings/oxidation.
- Glass looks really good on this Mustang.
- Windows roll up and down. Passenger window operationcould be smoother. Doors openand close welland both lock.
Interior condition:
- The interior is one of the best things about this pony.
- Headliner is great.
- Dash pad is great.
- Paint in the interior is very good.
- Seats are in very good condition.
- Carpet looks okay.
- Factory door tag is present on driver door. VIN matches title and fender VIN.
- Fold down seat functions well and looks very good.
- Has the Mustang visibility group, which included the remote driver window and the night/day rearview mirror.
