Description:
1965 Ford Thunderbird Convertible
I have owned this Thunderbird since 2006. At the time I purchased the tbird it had 53060 miles on it. I had to check the title but that is correct, in 11 years Ive only driven the car 340 miles total. I drove it approximately once a year in a 5 mile parade in the summer time in Ohio. The rest of the time and year the car was tucked away in inside storage and pampered. I have changed nothing about the car since I purchased it, and it was keep on an island in lake erie that does not use salt on the roads in winter for the entire time I have owned it (except the last two years which it was again stored indoors all the time). Speaking of winter in Ohio, other than the last 2 pictures, all of the pictures were taken about 2 months ago on a rare warm day in ohio winter, so that is why it looks so dull and dead in the neighborhood (if you live in ohio in the winter, you know what I mean). The guy I bought the car from was an intermediate-used-classics-salesman from my understanding. Documentation still in the glove compartment show that he bought the car from an older gentleman who owned and pampered the car since almost brand new. The engine is a 390 V8. The Thunderbird is an automatic with shifter on the steering column. The car has 53400 miles on it and that is original (from my knowledge). I find no bondo on the car, no scratches or dents and the crome has shined like new since I have owned the car, one(?) of the dual mufflers has a leak, giving the car an even more muscle-car sound (also exhaust manifold leak from my brothers information)so I never had it fixed. I recently showed the car at a dealership and the manager told me the car has been repainted but the chrome is original. The convertible top folds into the trunk that opens hydraulically (opposite the direction of a normal trunk opening) and then the trunklid comes back down to completely hide the top and unfold an upper-back-seat-cover plate, again hydraulically (so cool). The Thunderbird has a slide-away steering column from the manufacturer in the 1965 model year as-well-as sequential turn-signal taillights for that model-year that Ford has brought back in todays mustangs. The speedometer looks like a horizontal thermometer, the redline goes from left to right as the speed increases (and I thought it was cool enough to mention). The steering column has an engine-kill-switch that requires explaination (which I will provide in writing, in conversation, and/or videotape for winning bidder). I am unsure if the kill-switch is manufacturer, after-market-added-on or is unique to the wiring of this car. I know that once I figured it out, it was easy and controlled ignition and convertible functioning of the car (I saw it as a definite plus to the car and its security). Everything works, except my recent discovery that the drivers power seat is not working, someone commented on that on my last posting which I thought was odd, if I am the only person driving the car how many times would I change the seat? This car has been my classic baby. The car was featured in my brothers professionally video-tapped/movie quality wedding and stole the show. I have loved this car and it is time to let someone else appreciate it for the classic beauty and piece of american heritage it is. The Thunderbird is in good (parade) condition but will need more attention over the years than I can give it, so I would rather see it go to a good home than fade away over the years in storage. I am located in Northeast Ohio, so if you are close come and see it, at any rate, good luck and thanks for viewing my listing. Please price this vehicle on ebay and elsewhere (as I have) I feel my pricing is lower than most for this quality car. My reasoning is that I am not a mechanic (and doubt that I am going to become a mechanic anytime in the near future), I have several classic car and I cannot take the time and expense of upkeep of any of them and do not want to see them deteriorate due to neglect over time, (plus, I'm back to newer car (they come with warranties in my older age, much easier for me). Car lovers will understand. Here comes some of the disclaimers. There are no warranties of any kind on this car and the buyer is responsible for all shipping and transportation cost associated with this sale. I recently sold another of my several car collection cars internationally and have become familiarized with international sales. All monies for this auction are to be in US currency, cash, certified check that clears bank before delivery, or wired funds again deposited in bank before delivery. Thanks again and good luck. (On 5-22-2017 at 645pm est. I unchecked the box for air conditioning, that was my mistake, unless you count the convertible top as air my tbird does not have air conditioning, sorry for the error and any inconvenience, I have several other vehicles and made a mistake.)Vehicle Details:
