1950 Ford Custom Tudor 2 dr sedan
CONDITION? It actually starts and runs fine. I have put between 300 and 400 miles on this car with no problems outside of brakes are touchy, They are the original non self adjusting drum brakes and could stand to be adjusted. It drives like a boat. it has a good ride and does go straight if you let go of the wheel, but the suspension is so soft it really has a lot of body roll. The engine runs strong and the transmission shifts hard, it is not uncommom for it to get a second gear scratch without really trying. 4:11 stock rear end with 14 inch tires. Three of the tires have less than 300 miles on them, and the other one has very ggod tread. I bought the steel wheels at a salvage yard, and one had a very good tire on it so I bought 3 new tires of matching size. It is missing the rear bumper.Beyond that, I would say the car is in poor to fair shape. The body is fairly straight but has some rust or poor repair to rusted areas. The fenders aren't attached at the bottoms and the whole front end feels like it isn't fastened to frame properly. The interior isn't too bad. I can only describe it as interesting. The fake top has been applied over the sedan body. The rear windows are still in the car, and with the black top covering them they have become mirrors, Gives the back seat a huge appearance, The original rear window is gone, but it appears the window bay hasn't been altered. My intention was to remove the cloth top and install a stock rear window. I have driven the car on a couple 65 mile round trips with no problems. Also I have driven in town on cruise night, with no overheating. There is about a 1 inch hole in the floor on the passenger side and exhaust fumes come in there some times. Yes. it has an exhaust leak. The door handles are gone and the only way to open the door is to reach inside. Both inside door handles are gone so I use a wrench, There is a button on each side under the grille to roll the windows down, but they only work when they feel like it, You will notice the door panel is off on the drivers side as I have worked on the window wiring, but gave up after seeing how bad the wiring is, I just leave the window down all the time. Even when the windows work you have to help them because they fit in the tracks poorly and will get wedged. They are just plain xxxx.
It has a set of VDO guages. They all work except for the gas gauge. The speedometer works, but not sure of accuracy.
I have no idea how may miles this car has, but eBay makes you put in something, so that is why it is what it is.
The cloth top is in very bad shape and probably not repairable. Don't know if the radio can be made to work or not, There seems to be no power to it. Also there is no antannae.
There seems to be a bad ground behind the dash. Sometimes the engine cranks slow like when your battery is bad. I reach behind the dash and wiggle the rats nest of wiring and it fires right up. The previous seller had put a new starter and battery in it, probably not knowing of the ground issue. So it does have a new starter and battery right at a year ago.
I bought this car about a year ago on eBay, and I would have to say the description and communications were very inaccurate, and I do not want to be guilty of the same. The car needs a LOT of work, But if you are a body man with good electrical skills I don't think it would take a ton of money to make a decent car out of it. It is licenced and I drive it at least once a month. As bad as it is I still get a few thumbs up from people. The reason I want to sell it, is it just needs more work than I'm capable of doing, and I don't want to pay to have it done. I am sure I am going to take a bath on the sale of this car as I paid way more than I should have, I have bought two other vehicles on eBay, and are very happy with both, So, I'll take what I get, and be happy to have the space in the garage for another vehicle.
I've tried to descibe this vehicle to the best of my ability, If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask, This is a no reserve auction, and all sales are final. I require a $500 non refudable deposit at auction end within 24 hours. Balance due before being shipped,
It will be buyers resposibilty to pick up car, or have shipper pick it up. How ever you wish to pay, as long as funds have cleared. Only exception is no wire transfers.I can store the car for 2 weeks if need be,
Couple other things: The passenger side windshield needs replaced.
The cas still has vacuum wipers that work, but there are no wiper arms.
Also as you can see in two of the pictures there is a set of fiberglass fender skirts that come with the car. I havn't tried to fit them, but they look like they would fit, as there are holes in the body that match the same area on the skirts.
