American trucks have built a well-deserved reputation for being tough, virtually unbreakable workhorses. Through solid engineering and fresh innovation, the vaunted F-Series has been a dominant force in the world's largest automotive markets for close to 70 years. With that in mind, demand for classic trucks has never been hotter. And that means, after a lifetime of dedicated service, more and more of these gladiators are being retired to dry garages and leisurely show fields. One such stalwart is this classy F100. The beneficiary of comprehensive restoration, this awesome pickup wraps a clean V8 and attractive Custom Cab upholstery in a proven platform that makes it a perfect candidate for miles of parade and years of display. If you're in the market for a standout classic, settle in and take a close look at this sweet Ford!
BODYWORK/TRIM
This cool F100, a solid canvas that reflects timeless Americana, wears $50K of careful restoration that dresses traditional Rangoon Red and Wimbledon White 2-stage in a bleve of well-placed details. At the front of those digs, an anodized Custom Cab grille hangs simple headlights between amber parking lamps, bold "F O R D" lettering and a mirrored bumper. At the sides of that grille, a flowing profile parallels stylish stainless trim with chrome door handles, a traditional fuel filler, familiar "Twin I Beam" emblems and classy "Custom Cab" scripts. At the top of that profile, a V8-branded hood fronts pristine glass, which plants correct Custom Cab frames between polished wipers, polished ventshades and Custom Cab-exclusive mirrors. And at the back of the truck, a "F O R D" stamped tailgate secures a factory short bed, which hangs stainless-trimmed taillights over a second mirrored bumper.
ENGINE
Tilt the hood and you'll find a correct, 352 cubic inch FE V8 that's fully rebuilt and dressed to impress. Introduced in 1958 as a high-end Ford and Mercury staple, this stout FE block remained one of Dearborn's hottest factory options for many years. At the top of the Ford Blue mill, a decaled air cleaner draws wind in to a big 4-barrel carburetor that's juiced by a series of stainless fuel lines. Atomized octane passes through a cast iron intake to correct, cast iron heads, which are topped by stamped and painted valve covers. At the front of those covers, an Autolite alternator spins in unison with a correct fan as a correct radiator keeps the block cool via pliable hoses and old school tower clamps. And spark comes courtesy of a traditional points distributor, which sequences fire through Super Mag plug wires. Aesthetically, the truck's bay presents a clean, mostly authentic appearance, all the way from its body-matched firewall to its Satin Black fenders. And quality ancillaries, like a CPP brake booster, yellow dipsticks and an old school See Clear washer bag, provide a nice combination of show and go.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Naturally, that clean, road-ready mill precedes a clean, road-ready chassis. Everything starts with a sturdy, factory-spec frame that rolls on a fully rebuilt suspension. Behind the reliable FE, a rebuilt 3-speed spins a tough 9-inch axle. Retrofitted power steering makes parking easy and turns a cinch. Stops are provided by retrofitted, power-assisted discs and drums. Factory exhaust manifolds feed fresh, 2.5-inch pipes, which are wired with throaty mufflers. And power meets the pavement through Wimbledon White steelies, which twist 235/75R15 Suntek Touring Pros around ornate Custom Cab wheel covers.
INTERIOR
When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a comfortable cockpit that, in traditional truck fashion, features tastefully conservative trim. Top dead center, a Rangoon Red dash caps a correct AM radio and fully rebuilt telemetry with a Custom Cab pad and correct Custom Cab trim. Opposite that ledge, a Ford branded bench features retrofitted seatbelts. At the sides of that seat, Wimbledon White doors found traditional handles on Custom Cab panels. Beneath those panels, clean carpet floats snazzy "Ford F100" floor mats. Opposite that rug, a tight headliner frames a chrome mirror and Custom Cab visors. And the driver spins a chrome-trimmed Custom Cab steering wheel.
