1990 Ford Mustang LX Special Edition 7-Up Convertible that has suffered an underhood fire. Always a Tucson car- I am the fourth owner. I purchased the car in June 2015, planning to part the car out as a Father-Son project with my Dad. Unfortunately, Dad's health won't allow him to help with the project, so now I'm selling the car. This is a rare car, with approximately 4,100 made, and an interesting history tied to NCAA college basketball.
Car is complete, except for rear speaker grills, which I sold to a friend. There are lots of great and valuable parts here - take the parts you need and sell the rest, or have a big project to put her back on the road.
AOD transmission was rebuilt by a reputable Tucson transmission shop in July 2002, at 99,172 miles - driven only 8,000 miles since then. See the picture of the $1,578 bill from the shop.
8.8 Rear axle is code M, 2.73 Traction Lok.
I have known the second and third owners for more than 30 years. The third owner and her family lovingly cared for the car and used the car occasionally, driving less than 31,000 miles since 2000.
==================
Sadly, in June 2015 the car caught fire shortly after being parked. The fire started on the right front side, at or near the wheel/brakes. The fire burnt the right side of the engine compartment, and melted the plastic parts on the left side. The fire melted the cowl area, the right side of the windshield and dash, and partially melted the glove box. The heat also damaged the sun visors and the right a-pillar trim.
The car interior got lots of smoke and some water when the firefighters put the fire out. The right suspension bushings and right side steering rack seals are melted.
The Firefighters damaged the driver's doornear the door handle, the quarter panel near the door, and scratched both left side windows. Both fenders are damaged from the Firefighters prying the rear of the hood up to cut the hood hinges. The hood now opens backwards, with the hood latch holding it in the front. The trunk opens and closes fine, but the left side of the trunk does not sit quite flush when closed.
The car was repainted the original Deep Emerald Green Clearcoat Metallic in the early 2000s, and was stored in a carport most of the time since. The rear bumper cover paint is sun faded and starting to flake off in spots. Three of the tires are lower-priced Pirellis, installed in June 2013, at 106,433 miles.
The convertible top was replaced in 2013, and has some heat damage and a four inch rip above the driver's seat. I painted over the rip with white Plasti Dip to keep the interior clean and dry.
Rear quarter window restoration kit from LMR and new upstop bumpers were installed in 2013. The right hydraulic cylinder for the top started leaking a couple weeks ago, when I was moving the top by hand. Fuel pump and sending unit were replaced in December 2012.
I have removed the broken windshield and cleaned up muchofthe interior. The instrument cluster trim is loose. The right door panel and the dash area and console have cosmetic damage from melted plastic and glass. The right front kick panel and the footwell carpet have black plastic on them, from when the glovebox area partially melted. The front seats had sheep skin covers that protected them from fire damage, but obviously need to be recovered. I bought a used turbine wheel, center cap, and used tire for the right front.
****************
The rear seat interior quarter panels are driver quality, with some of the edges weakened from age and use. A Viper car alarm with remote door lock and FOB was installed in 1997. The stereo is an older Alpine CD player - I'm guessing it was installed when the alarm was. I do not know if the Alpine works. I do not have the factory radio. Spare wheel/tire, jack, and factory lug wrench/ jacking tools are included.
I have the window sticker and a few small parts that will go with the car too.
There was no insurance settlement from the fire, so I have a clear A box (original mileage) Arizona title in my name. The Title is notarized and ready to go. Car rolls and steers, and has easy access for loading. The transmission shifts in and out of park fine, and the parking brake works. The hydraulic brakes do not work.

Just so there is no confusion here - the car does not run or drive and will have to be towed.
