1956 Ford Thunderbird Base

Hello you are looking at a 1956 Ford Thunderbird Convertible which is in overall good solid condition. It has had some mild customization done to it but is still very much original. the door handles were shaved with electric relays installed to open the doors either by key chain remote or by a button in the trunk. the headlight bezels were removed and the fenders were reworked to for the headlights to be mounted with no bezels for a nice clean look. Also there was a power antenna installed in the panel in front of the trunk lid. Otherwise everything is pretty much original and in good condition. This T-Bird had a body off restoration in the early 90s and was repainted Pearl White. All the jams, engine bay, inside trunk and even the top and bottom of floors was painted pearl white. The car was super solid before being repainted so there was little bodywork needed to be done. There were some small rust holes here and there but they were cut out and new steel was welded in and painted over. About 20 years later the previous owner's wife wanted it painted a different color so it was sent to a local body shop to be repainted the color it is now. The paint job is not show quality but is very nice for a driver. They did not re-paint inside the engine bay or trunk but they did paint the door jams. Unfortunately after the car was painted and being finished at the body shop Hurricane Sandy hit in 2012. The car was parked inside the body shop which got flooded with sea water about 4 feet high.covering the car in sea water. The car was not insured at the time so there was NO CLAIM put in. A few days later after the water receded the engine oil was drained, and the car was completely flushed thoroughly with fresh water and cleaned. the carb was removed and sent out for rebuild. We cannot locate the original carb but a period correct 4 barrel carb will be included with the car. Then the car was completely dried out and then parked in the corner of the body shop for another 5 years with a cover over it until about 2 weeks ago. We checked out the car, and realized the 312 motor has seized from sitting so long with no oil in it. Some lights work, but will also need electrical work before making road worthy. The car does roll and steer and all the tires are excellent and hold air.. There is no hardtop for this car but the convertible soft top is in beautiful condition with a clear plastic rear window. Still folds away nicely when you want the top down. The Interior is very nice as well as the dashboard. The Floors, Trunk, and Frame and under carige is in excellent condition with NO ROT holes. Just some very minor surface rust in a few spots. (HAVE MORE PICS OF UNDER CARIGE) This will make a great project car for someone who doesn't want to go through the painstaking hardship of restoring a basket case. This is a very solid and complete car that needs some TLC. Please call or text me with any questions: 516-858-5115 Thank you
