Description:
1956 Ford F-100
Up for auction is this very cool 1956 Ford F250 truck. The truck was originally bought locally in my town as a work truck for a local mason contractor. The original lettering is still on the doors and shows well. The truck was in service until he parked it in 1975, and kept it inside a garage. His son later inherited the truck, and at some point began repairing the truck to get it back on the road, but had passed away before doing so. At that point it was recently sold thru his estate sale. Upon getting the truck, my goal was to not restore it, but to put it back together with the parts he began to repair and replace items as needed to make it drive again, keeping the aged patina look of the body intact for the next owner to preserve or restore. Supposedly the factory 272 Y-block V8 engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, but I have no paperwork to document it. I can say that it starts right up, sounds great, runs great, feels strong and looks clean. While he had the engine out, he cleaned and painted the engine bay. The truck itself has 82,540 miles. The clutch feels good and the manual 3 on the tree trans shifts fine. The manual drum brakes work as they should. The brake lines were changed years ago by the gentleman and appear to be in good condition. I recently installed a new brake light switch. I also put a fresh set of ignition points, condenser, cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires and coil. Also, I installed a new gas tank, steel fuel lines and fuel pump. New tail lights were installed and the wiring for the headlights, parking lights and turn signals were replaced as needed to make all the lights functional. The body panels are all original to the truck, but do have rough repairs made to them. As stated earlier, the owner at the time had begun repairing the isolated areas of rust. The repairs were done at an amateur level and should not be considered anywhere near restoration quality or finished. Again, this was not the intention of the gentleman at that time. The floors of the cab are original and solid. The original wooden bed floor has been replaced with some generic rough cut wood, making the bed usable once again. The bed is a long bed stepside. The tail gate opens and closes as it should, but does have rust along the bottom, as shown in the photos. The frame of the truck is solid and dry. The front portion of the frame, in the engine bay, was painted black, at the time of the engine being out I assume. The interior appears to be original. The bench seat has it's original upholstery, but is ripped. The metal dash is in good condition. There is an old radio mounted to the roof, which does not look factory, but period correct. The windshieldhas scratches, the drivers door glass is cracked and the passenger door glass is broken out. Rear window is ok. I have brought this truck to the point where I can drive it around my neighborhood and to the gas station. The headlights, high beam/low beam work, blinkers, parking lights, brake lights and hazards all work. New tires would be needed, as the current ones on the truck are from the 70's and are dry and worn.It would not take much more to make it a daily driver if you like the unique look of a vintagepatina'd shop truck that turns heads wherever you go! The PA title is clear, and is in my name, and is transferable to the next owner. Please look at the photos as an additional description of the truck's condition. On Jan-21-17 at 18:44:53 PST, seller added the following information:
