Description:

1957 Ford Fairlane

This is a very good condition LOW MILEAGE full power Town Victoria with extremely rare working POWER SEATS, POWER WINDOWS, POWER BRAKES and originally had POWER STEERING but the original owner removed the sloppy, leaky ram assisted power steering when the engine was rebuilt for a very responsive manual steering setup. The heater/defroster works perfectly, all the electric system works with no cuts, splices or worn wires, in fact this is the first 50's car Ive ever owned that didnt have the wiring all cut up. The engine is a low mileage 4 barrel Thunderbird Special "D" code rebuild that has not been run since 1972 when the car was stored. I installed a freshly rebuilt Offenhauser 6 pack, a rebuilt World Class Tremec T5 5 speed transmission, new flywheel, new pressure plate, new throw out bearing, Wilwood hydraulic clutch conversion, new short shifter with Hurst bench seat shift lever, new drive shaft, new alternator, new starter motor, new emergency brake cable, new water pump, new battery, new fuel pump, new fuel tank, new fuel level sending unit, new Pertronix billet distributor, coil and spark plug wires. A brand new aluminum radiator with shroud and electric fan. All the power accessories, windows, seat and brakes work perfectly. The car has a fresh $4500.00 paint job, a freshly reupholstered $2000.00 interior featuring cloth seats. door panels and a new headliner and new carpeting with Dynamite insulation, new Dodge Lancer "crab" hubcaps. 5 brand new white wall tires, A new satellite radio (AM/FM/SIRIUS/BLUETOOTH/CD player etc) with new dash and rear speakers. A new windshield with new rubber gasket, new front side glass and all new rubbers, door channels and fuzzies that are being installed by a local classic car shop . The car looks great, starts and runs great. There is no rust, the frame, floor pan, trunk etc are all rust free. The bumpers are rust free. The dual exhaust system works grea, it was replaced when the engine was rebuilt in 1972 so its like new.
Why am I selling? Forced to sell this beautiful 1957 Fairlane Town Victoria hardtop due to an accident. As I was removing the Fordomatic transmission it slipped of the jack and crushed my arm ( see picture, my arm is black and blue from my shoulder to my hand ). The docs tell me it will be about a year before I will regain the strength and movement in my arm. So, rather then have the car sit in my garage for a year sadly I decided I would sell it. This is what I wanted to finish up. New weatherstripping, install a dual bowl master brake cylinder ( included with the car ) disc brake conversion kit and Newport electric wiper conversion. Because of my accident I cannot do these now.
I priced the car to sell as I would rather have someone finish it and enjoy it then have it sit in my garage for a year. Make me an offer, no low ballers please, the car is priced well below what comparable '57 Fairlanes are priced at..

For those of you who have asked about what I intended to finish on the car here is the reply: Although the car runs and drives fine I was concerned about the brakes. The car sat for 45 years and i was concerned the rubberseals in the brake system wouldeventuallystart leaking or fail completely. I was going to rebuild the stock drum brakes and replace the single bowl MC with a dual bowl as 1 of the wheel studs on thepassengerside drum was broken off but found I found a disc brake kit from Classic Disc Brakes that would allow me to keep the stock 14" rims which was important as I had just purchased 5 new ww tires. So, your choice, rebuild the brakes to stock or upgrade to discs. I would also do a front end alignment although the car doesnt wander or "crab".to set everything to factory specs. I would have also replace the shock absorbers as they too sat for 45 years. The weatherstripping along the top of the roof line needs to replaced . Its weathered but stillserviceableas is the trunk weatherstripping. The car is, I would say is 90% complete with only these few things left to be done. The car is completely driveable . It starts runs and drives fine but I would re-do the brakes for the reasons I cited. BTW, the engine runs at 40 PSI idles at 20 PSI which is spec. When I had the valve covers off to set the solid lifters I noticed how clean and fresh the heads were.

To clear up any confusion with regard to the pictures I posted, the pictures of the car in the paint booth and with the interior stripped out were to show the car had really been stripped and painted correctly and that the floors are all solid. The car looks just as the pictures depict, painted and all assembled.

UPDATE on the front side glass installation. My shop informed me that the "fuzzies" and window channel run kit is out of stock. If the car sells before these become available I will refund $180.00 ( the cost of the kit ) or have the kit shipped directly to the buyer for installation. I may have the new glass installed anyway but the rubbers and fuzzies will not be installed until the kit is available ( 3-4 weeks ) so you will receive the car with a new front windshield and possibly the new front side window glass installed. All you would need to done would be to install the fuzzies and channel runs.
Also, I am also up for swaps so if you have a 40s-60's classic of equal or lesser value give me a text or call
