1962 Ford Galaxie 500 Mayberry Police Car

It's already hard not to love a 1962 Ford Galaxie customized to look like one of Andy Griffith's Mayberry police cars. But when that classic also has a genuine cop-like powerful 390 V8 under the hood, then there's even more fun to be had than just reminiscing with this classic piece of Americana. With hints of this being bought having original photos of Don Knotts in his military uniform, and love letters written by him, its possible this was one of the cars from the original show.A '62 Galaxie 500 is already a pretty desirable car even before it was turned into a nostalgia machine. It's true '60s styling with large chrome bumpers, an extra wide grille, and a trim line that runs the length of both sides and wraps around the front like horseshoe. And of course, the rear end was one of the best of jet-inspired age with afterburner taillights and a svelte panel that almost looked European. And only heightening this vintage appeal is the livery of Mayberry's Finest. The black & white paint, gumball light, old-school mechanical siren, and sheriff badges on the door remind you of a time when solving a crime meant returning a homemade pie.The time warp continues on the inside where the blue vinyl interior looks correct and quite possibly original. The seats are in good shape, so Andy and Barney have not patrolled in this one too much. But when a situation does arise at Floyd's, you'll be the first to know thanks to the included CB radio. Plus, the addition of the modern AM/FM/CD stereo with USB and Bluetooth is enough of an upgrade to make Gomer say "Gol-ly."But under the hood is serious business. For the few times that real crime does try to enter Mayberry, this Ford 390 cubic-inch V8 with four-barrel carb has big block power to chase it down and push it out of town. It's a terrific motor with plenty of patrolling power. In fact, the honest engine bay of this sedan and the period-correct date code means that this might even be the original powerplant. Regardless, this sturdy Ford will provide you plenty of fun as you make the most out of the V8 with the three-on-the-tree manual transmission. We can have some great fun describing this car, and that's the whole point. Whether you want to lead a parade (there's even a Barney Fife costume that comes with the sale) or just have fun in your home garage, this is great collectable nostalgia. Complete with owner's manual, here's one of the most affordable ways to get a classic that will keep you grinning from ear to ear. Call now!!
