1962 Ford Ranchero

The Old Oregon Motor Company presents:

1962 Ford Ranchero. This 1962 Ford Ranchero is a solid driver powered by a later model 200ci inline-six. The seller has owned the car since 2008, and performed a refurbishment to make the car into a sorted weekly driver. In 2010, the engine was professionally rebuilt by Portland Engine Rebuilders with a mild cam, bigger valves, mild porting, and a slight compression increase. The brakes and suspension have been completely rebuilt, and a low-mileage toploader 3-speed manual transmission has replaced the original 2-speed automatic. A built 8″ rear-end with positraction and 3.40 gears has also been fitted, and the car is sold with clean Oregon title. Originally finished in Rangoon Red, the car was painted white by the previous owner. The seller repainted the car again in 2012 with a flat white finish. Though it is clean and presentable, the seller notes the exterior is driver-quality, with various dings and creases present on the body. The bed exhibits plenty of wear and tear from 50 years of use, though a rubber mat has prevented excessive damage. Some surface rust is also apparent on the rear bumper. The interior shows well with new door panels, arm rests, kick panels, and center console installed by the seller. The bench seat remains sound with good foam and springs, though there is a tear on the driver’s side of the seat and it could benefit from a recovering. New reproduction floor pans were welded in and have been covered with a new carpet kit. The steering wheel exhibits wear typical of its age, while the dashboard trim and switches appear to be in good condition. An NOS heater core and wiper motor have been installed. A Hurst shifter was fitted to the 3-speed and is topped with a white cue ball shift knob. New window and door gaskets have been fitted by the seller. The 200ci inline-six has been driven approximately 10k miles since the rebuild, and is fitted with a dual-outlet header, new carburetor, and HEI ignition. An aluminum radiator handles cooling duties, and a number of engine bay components have been powder coated. Power is directed through a low mileage 3-speed transmission and 8″ rear-end with positraction. The car runs and drives well. Apart from the front coils, every component of the suspension was replaced in 2010 along with the brakes. Steering components were completely replaced at the same time, with the exception of the steering box. Handling has been improved with a larger front anti-sway bar, and a Monte Carlo bar in the engine bay. The original wheels have been powder-coated red, and the center caps are original. The sale includes full documentation of all work performed during the seller’s ownership. Please call Bill Penny at (503) 209-5510 to answer all your questions!
