Description:
1961 Ford Falcon 2 Door
1961 falcon B/FX style street rod. I would call this 90% done. I'm loosing my work space for this car so unfortunately I am unable to finish. My desire with this car was something between the classic gasser look and pro street. I am not a big fan of the gasser straight axle front end look, but like the time frame the cars are set in. For those unfamiliar with the factory experimental cars of the 60's the A/FX cars were the big block factory hot rods. Slightly altered wheel base (moved forward) but otherwise not as wild looking as the gassers. The B/FX was the smaller siblings in that they had small blocks and were even less altered in the wheel base. This car is along those lines. To that end it has a very narrowed ford 9" ford, 31 spline locked rear with 4:56 gears. Disc brakes all around. The rear is suspended on leaf springs with sliders on the rear. This gave me the more even stance I desired, not the stink bug look. 15 X 13 steel mopar rims with m&h cheater slicks (street legal). The motor is 1994 mustang 5.0. Stock with the exception of the intake and 750 cfm carb. Has full msd electronics including new non computer distributor. Trans is 5 speed from same mustang GT. Hyd clutch setup. When it came to the interior I wanted to keep the same clean 1960 look, dash is stock. Original gage and knobs are white so I continued the theme with white aftermarket gage cluster, tack and steering wheel. All in white. Two bucket seats from a 1965 mustang replaced the bench seat. I have both the original door panels as well as sheet aluminum. Could not decide which direction to go on that. Out back it has the usual fuel cell with two battery boxes. 8 point cage with easy enter side bars makes it easy to get in and out of while still maintaining the strongest frame strength. So what does it still need?
1) fuel line needs to be run. I have the electric fuel pump (new) and as listed above the fuel cell.
2) back half sheet metal needs to be done. Like the door panels I was not sure which direction to go. Aluminum with a more modern twist? Or steel painted black for a more 60s look? The wheel tubes are steel and simulate the look of a true B/FX car, so I was leaning towards steel. New owner gets to decide if it's classic 60's hot rod or more modern.
3) needs a drive shaft, I have the original 6cyl but was planning on going with something beefier.
4) Last thing it needs is brake lines run to the back.
As mentioned above, I am loosing the indoor space I have been working on the car. Rather than have it sit outside unfinished I felt the better option would be to list it up to someone who would appreciate the look and style of this type of car. Have a clear title for it. This is not a restored car but an extremely clean and original falcon. Floor pans are great. Normal paint bubbles around the edges of the doors and windows (see pictures). As with all cars like this it's sold as is where is. Any questions please ask prior to bidding. More then welcome to come take a look at it.
