1964 Ford Galaxie Country Sedan Station Wagon
1964 Ford Galaxie
1964 Ford Galaxie Country Sedan Station Wagon. I bought this car about 4 years ago from the second owner, enjoyed the car then sold it to a friend of mine who has owned it ever since. It is currently not my car as I'm selling it for my friend but I'm very familar with it so he had asked me to try to sell it for him on ebay.
As I had mention I had purchased the car from the second owner. Her and her husband bought the car from the original owner's who used the car sparingly. That was one of the reasons that they bought it other than the fact that they liked the car. Sadly sometime after buying the car the husband passed and the car sat from that time forward until I bought it.
During the time that it had sat it was maintained to a fair degree and always kept inside but did need work after I bought it. Visually the car looked great the engine ran strong but it needed brake work and the transmission didn't shift properly. I went over the car from front to back, fixed the brakes, tuned the engine, put in a new battery, heater and radiator hoses and even installed a fully rebuilt Cruise-O-Matic transmission. The interior was in very nice condition except for the carpet so I replaced that as well. The original 14 inch steel wheels were upgraded to 15 inch with 5 brand new reproduction Coker Firestone Deluxe Champion tires. The car really rides nice and stable even at nearly 70 mph on the interstate. It did have a dual exhaust installed before I bought it but I added a nice sounding set of Dynomax mufflers that fit up in the original location behind the bumper.
The car is one of the nicest original cars that I have ever owned. All the chrome and stainless looks great. Even the rear bumper, which always rusts out on the 64 Galaxies is in exceptional original condition. The odometer says that the car has 21,000 miles. I have no proof that this mileage is correct and not 121,000 miles but in my opinion if the car had 121,000 miles on it, it would be in a much poorer condition due to the Northeast weather. The car has absolutely no rust anywhere. It looks like the paint is all original except for a touch up on the lower passengers side fender. Italso seems like thereis something downlow at the dog legs by the rear doors that looks funky. Possibly a weird lead joint??...not sure but its certainly not a rust issue. Everything works as it should on this car including the rear power window and even the radio.
The current owner is selling the car because he just never drives it. I've kept it in storage for him since he has bought it and have driven it every so often to keep things moving. Yes it does have a few oil leaks but you would expect that from an original FE engine that has never been out of the car and spent most of its time dormant. Overall its really a great car and if you have any questions please feel free to ask me I'll be glad to help answer them. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
