This was a carport find.of a 1969 Ford XL 4V 429 black on black car.These were not Galaxie's or Galaxie 500's.They were built in 69-70 as there own animal ford had designed with hidden head lites only on the XL and the design of the sportroof with the fast back look with out the large rear windows of the other fastbacks ford built.This is a bench seat car. They also came in an XL GT with buckets,convertibles,automatics and 4 speeds too.THEY CAME IN ASSORTED ENGINE SIZES TOO' The car shows 112,000 miles the interior dash is dry rotted as the seats front and rear door panels are decent.I pulled the carpets to inspect the beautiful floors i found with 6-8 pinholes in the floors passenger front, runk is also very nice .There were no dents on the car till a pipe fell into the passengers door when the rollback moved it SEE PIC..When taking the seats out i found the original build sheet under the drivers cushion .Options check marked were a clock .heavy duty suspension,power steering and the rest is pretty old and thin to read. The rockers are rust free, ear quarters clean with plastic plugs still in place.The rear end is a 9.38 or they called it a nine and a half.The motorcraft 4 barrel carburetor was stolen off of this original 429 and i have now installed a rebuilt 600 holley to get it running. It runs great after i blue out a mouse nest the size of a volley ball in the the passengers tail pipe last nite when we got her runnin, with no smoking,no noises,started it again this morning with two pumps of gas and it fired up perfect.The brakes are out the exhaust is still quiet and still has the original H pipe exhaust from the factory. It has a beautiful frame,floors and the body are in great shape when restoring one and not spending all your money and time to replace panels, loors etc..I also have the original 1/27/69 title with the amount paid for the car of $2,002.56 . If you do your home work on these models of the Ford XL you to will be excited about these machines as i was to find out about them thought there were only Galaxie's and Fairlane's out there you learn something new every day .If you have questions or need more pictures call or email thanks cliff 1-828-553-4380.
