This all original, umbers matching and documented 1970 BOSS 302 is a beautiful survivor. Except for a high-quality re-paint, t is the same car that left the showroom on October 23, 969.
Its 70,993 original miles were obviously easy and well maintained ones. The car still feels completely solid. The engine has never been rebuilt and starts, dles, nd revs beautifully. The Hurst Shifter is absolutely amazing...smooth and precise.
It still has the same spirit and feel it was born with on October 6, 970. Nothing has been lost to a modern day restoration or reproduction parts. This means every part and detail is factory correct. No need to rely on the knowledge of a restorer. It is a time machine.
ABOUT THE BOSS 302The BOSS 302 C.I.D (Hi-Po) engine was created by combining a Ford Windsor 302 cubic inch engine block with "large valve" Ford Cleveland 351 cubic inch engine cylinder heads (valves larger than most engines over a third larger in displacement). This optional engine, nd indeed the entire vehicle package, ncluding handling and aerodynamic aids, as made available for the express purpose of meeting the homologation guidelines to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am Series, hich limited engine displacement to 302 C.I.D. (5.0L), n order to compete.
The G-code engine was factory rated at 290 horsepower. However, n some cases, odern day dyno tests have shown a rating in excess of 380 horsepower.
The wide-ratio 4-speed manual transmission is connected to the iconic T-handle Hurst competition shifter.
The Boss came standard with power disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear as well as a competition suspension package which included larger sway bars, lower ride height, eavy duty spindles, nd reinforced shock towers.
