For Sale: 1979 FIAT X1/9;Hemmings Sport Magazine Article :https://www.hemmings.com/blog/article/x-squared-1979-fiat-x1-9/
This beauty has light blue original paint, original tan interior, with an upgraded steering wheel made of solid Mahogany from Italy; this car was in garage storage for 30 years and has 88,000 original miles. No rust at all, meaning, clean shock towers, clean rear trunk and super shiny front trunk.
This FIAT was featured on the cover, and in a five-page article, of the August 2011 issue of Hemming's Sports and Exotic Magazine. More importantly, it has received 9 show trophies in the N.Y. area and a recent second place trophy at the "Wheels Across the Pond" show in Florida. This beast is powered by an 1,800cc, SOHC FIAT motor prepared by European race-winner, Komar Competition of Slovenia.
Details are: a stunning 155 B.H.P. engine with 149 ft.lbs.of torque (that is 86 H.P. per litre, running on pump fuel, without turbos). This monster block is a duplicate of the X1/9 motor, but is 13mm taller. The build has seriously over-sized valves, a custom cam, a ported and polished head with custom-coated 11:1 pistons connected with custom con rods to a custom knife-edged, double-weighed crank ($2,500). The electronic distributor is mounted to the end of the cam tower. Fueled by twin 42mm DCNF Weber carbs set-up by Mike Pierce of Pierce Manifolds. Exhaust consists of a Jet-Hot-coated, 4-into-2 header which feeds into an historic Ansa muffler that has a quad exhaust. Power is delivered to the recently-rebuilt transaxle by a custom clutch by Superior Friction. Great handling has been further improved by a front sway bar, new KYB struts, and dual shock tower braces. Rolling on four 14" Mini-lite re-pop wheels with front 4-piston Wilwood brake calipers, FIAT 124 brake rotors, new brake and clutch master cylinders and new brake lines.
I have driven this car for 9 years without a hiccup. Ready to roll. It comes with 1974 X1/9 bumperettes and a 1974 radiator grille as extras. No smog equipment. Car is in South Florida. Over $43,000 invested.
Time to let it go. Will listen to interested buyers.
