Description:
1970 Fiat Other Sport
I have had this 850 for over two years now as an ongoing project, unfortunately the time has come to let someone else pick up where I left off. I have a host of automotive projects in the works, and it has become clear that I will not have time to complete this one any time soon, so I have decided to let it go. This example is amazingly dry, no rust aside from a tiny spot behind the passenger rear wheel. It runs very strong with a minuscule, and I mean near non existent puff of smoke on start up. The valve timing was recently adjusted, new fuel pump fitted, and the 30 DICA Weber was just rebuilt. The exhaust is a near brand new aftermarket and makes the car sound very good, not too loud or obnoxious. all lights and signals functioned the last time I checked them, and nothing has been done to the wiring since. as you can see from the pictures the interior has been stripped, it came to me with dirty red shag pile that had to go. I will include the original red crush velvet high back seats as cores to be re-covered, the Sparcos were just what I had on hand, some new holes were drilled in the floor to accommodate them. the paint is not wonderful, but maybe workable depending on the buyers intentions for the car, there are lots of small scratches and chips, but it looks like it was fairly high quality. The main issue that needs to be addressed is the brakes. I have replaced hoses, master cylinder, front calipers with re-built factory parts from Midwest Bayless, disks and pads. I am unsure about the condition of the rear drums. the brakes do not currently work because I forgot to bench bleed the master before I installed it, this will need to be done. I have never actually driven this car, it has always just lived in the garage as a work in progress. So it is possible for it to have other issues that I am unaware of, but I will provide full disclosure with regard to what I have fixed, and what I Know to need attention. Other known issues: some gauge senders need replacing, lower exhaust mounts need to be attached, steering knuckle needs to be greased. recently I have completed the tasks I listed earlier, and also cleaned out the "sludge slinger" oil filter. I also recently replaced the water pump with a used example that seems to work. to reiterate, the engine runs like a champ, I do not know of any problems in that area. Now, a year or so ago I purchased solid but wrecked parts car and stripped it bare, so included with the car are all of the pictured parts, and many that are not pictured, there are just too many to photograph, including a 903 engine ready to be rebuilt, trans-axle, rear suspension and brakes, spare complete gauge cluster, spare shifter and linkage, two complete sets of glass in great condition, door cards, window mechanisms, pedals, cables, lights, complete wiper assembly, a whole rear valence, 2 sets of steel wheels and one set of original Fiat "iron Cross" alloy wheels in the 850's bolt pattern (very expensive and hard to find) complete front suspension + brake caliper cores (not pictured) tons of trim, two heaters and associated parts, brand new center console (also very expensive) mirrors, visors, instruction plates, radiator, 3 bolt water pump core (car has 4 bolt) badging, hardware, spare deck lid, hood, and top cover, spare steering wheel and column, and literallyhundreds of other pieces. you could nearly build two complete cars, and that isn't an exaggeration.
I will also include an original dealership service manual and the Haynes manual, between the two of them there isn't much that can't be done. It honestly pains me to see this car go, but I want it to be finished, and I am not the person to do that right now. The car must be trailered, be sure to bring a vehicle that can carry all of the parts. Questions from serious buyers always welcome.
