1988 Replica/Kit Makes Ferrari 288 GTO with Aluminum 4.9l V8

Here is a 1988 Pontiac Fiero with the Ferrari 288 GTO fiberglass body. It originally had the stock Fiero v6 engine, which was not a desired engine, but now has the Cadillac 4.9l aluminum v8 with a 5 speed manual transmission. I've got a file of paperwork on it and after doing much research did find that this is the correct build for these replicas. The car only needs a few more things to finish it off. Once completed it will be a one of a kind replica.
This car is a rolling car. Engine and transmission are installed with drive axles. Engine needs finishing, whether you want to go fuel injection or go with a carb, that choice is up to you. I personally like the carb for it's simplicity. It appears like it was in the process of putting in roller rocker arms. Mileage was from original v6 engine and transmission.
Car body is good but could use some minor adjusting. Also the air dam is cracked and the rear lid has a cutout because the latch got stuck closed. All fiberglass parts are there including the part cut out of rear deck.
Wheels are 3 piece Compumotive TS.Front tires are 205/55ZR16 while Rear tires are 255/50ZR16.Wheels are straight and in good shape.
In the parts for it is an Allante Intake and throttle body also the wiring harness from the Cadillac engine was from.
The engine was having roller rockers put in. From what I could find there needed to be some machining to get the rollers to fit, so I think I would just put the stock parts back in to start. The removed parts all seem to be there.
System for a stand alone fuel injection, called MegaSquirt. (Found 3 receipts for the MegaSquirt total almost $500.) also with full installation paperwork.System for a stand alone ignition system, called MegaVolt with software on cd.
Car does have Air Conditioning.
Also found a new tail light. The driver back yellow turn signal with backup light is oxidized in pictures, there is a brand new light in box. On eBay it looks like these go for $400 each??????
Anyhow, someone also has asked me what the difference is between a 288 compared to 308. Well the best that I can tell is there are gills behind the rear wheels on a 288 but not on a 308. Also the mirrors are taller in the 288 but the main difference is the 288 is a little bit taller. Some people think this is better and in fact on eBay there are kits to make an actually 308 Ferrari look like an actual 288 GTO. The kit I saw was $55,000. Needless to say this is not a true Ferrari but instead a replica. It is about as close as you can get to the real deal. If this was a true Ferrari 288 GTO, in this condition, would be worth over 1 million dollars.
The only parts needed to buy is a distributor and spark plug wires. Everything else seems to be there. There is a machined distributor in place and it looks like a remote pickup was being installed on crank, part of MegaVolt system so possibly instead of a distributor you could go with 8 small coils for plugs. I think that was the plan.
Title is a clear Washington State Title in my name. Also on title it states that it is a "Replica" under Series/Body and that it weights 2499 pounds. All this is very important and a big deal.
NOW IF YOU WIN THE 288 GTO THEN I ALSO HAVE ANOTHER OPTION FOR YOU.For $3500 more I will include the 2017 CargoMate, 20th Anniversary Enclosed Car Hauler. Last 3 pictures is of it. It is 8'4"x 20' plus an 18" v nose on it. It is in really good condition and the interior is lined. Has a few scratches but otherwise a great trailer. Has LED lights. Car fits perfect with about 12" on each side of car and about 6' in front plus the v nose. You don't have to buy the trailer and can decide once you come to pickup the car. Trailer also has a Washington State Title in my name.
Please ask any questions and Thank You and good luck!!!!This is a no reserve auction and please only bid on car if you intend to buy it.
A truly great one of a kind project.
