1977 Dodge B200 SWB Custom Street Van Must Sell... Sacrifice.
1977 Dodge B200 Van
1977 B-200 Dodge Tradesman SWB “Street” Van.
Over $30,000 Invested in parts, and yes you will get all the receipts.
This is a project truck because it is about 99% Complete, and it has a couple of issues that need to be addressed. I have a bunch of money invested. I must sell the van because of some health issues I am dealing with and the fact that I am moving to a smaller place and cannot keep it. I have been restoring and working with cars my whole life. I did all the work except for the professionally rebuilt items and the upholstery. I have had the van to two shows, and the first show I won top 30 in a field for round 100 cars. This van would be right at home in the seventies, but is very rare now. I have the van set up as a “Street Van” but it is not a Factory Issue Street Van. I am just about giving the van away at this price. You cannot buy this van and drive it across the country to your home. (Unless you close to me) It is a show van and does great locally. I had high hopes for this van to be a show van and somewhat of a camper but I do not think I will ever realize the camper end of it. This restoration was done from 2016 - 2021. Everything is fresh, not 40 years old. Mileage listed is on the rebuild, The van had 96K before I rebuilt everything.
Overview:
California truck, absolutely no rust. Bought from California, Transported to Texas and over the course of about 5 years, completely restored and customized.
Major Components:
Professionally rebuilt Engine, Transmission and Rear Axle.
Mechanical:
All front suspension components including the Steering Gear, and Power Steering pump are new. Shock Absorbers all around are also new. rear shackles and other components are new. Van rides smooth.
Engine Mounts and Transmission mount are new.
Ididit Steering Column, and Mopar Style Steering wheel are new.
All brake calipers have been rebuilt, New Master cylinder as well. New rotors in front and drums in back, as well as shoes and pads.
New Lokar gas pedal and linkage assembly.
Vintage Air conditioning system installed that blows cold. The AC was installed on the inside of the firewall, requiring modification of the dash. Need to look closely to even see it.
Gauges have been replaced with Auto Meter Gauges. Compensator for Fuel sender gives accurate readings.
New Radiator, and electric fans.
Cooper Cobra Tires and Wheel Vintique Wheels.
Dual 2-1/2" Exhaust with Turbo Mufflers and crossover.
Electrical:
All wiring is new, replaced with a Ron Francis wiring system. Gone are those terrible Mopar bulkhead connectors. Roof console holds radio with rear view camera, and control switches.
6 Speakers for the stereo as well as a powered sub woofer, all built in.
There is a second deep cycle battery as well as a power inverter installed. Battery is on an isolator which will not allow the Main Starting battery to go dead. Charging ports for phones are installed as well as 110V for light appliances like a coffee maker or fan.
A 110 v air conditioner is hidden in the mid cabinet for camping.
Engine:
Original Poly 360 Mopar. Professionally Rebuilt, bored .030 over.
Edelbrock Aluminum intake manifold, Sniper Fuel Injection system including coil, distributor and all ignition components. New Harmonic balancer, Headers and Exhaust.
Electric fuel pump installed in existing 36 gallon fuel tank. (after thorough cleaning) Also there is an access panel in the floor of the van under the bed for access to the fuel pump. The pump can be changed without dropping the fuel tank.
Interior:
Seats and dash pad have been professionally re-upholstered. New Swivel seat bases installed. Both seats swivel to face the interior. 3 point seat belts also installed.
Dog box has been modified to be able to remove half of the box for engine maintenance. If you are familiar with Dodge Vans, removing that large dog box is a pain in the butt.
All new custom carpet installed.
All trim is solid Oak.
Bed has compartments under the custom (new) cushions that are in sections to allow access to the compartments without having to remove the entire mattress. Cushions are outdoor rated and are new. Covered with Sunbrella outdoor fabric. One of the compartments has a lock for securing whatever.
Room for the spare tire is under the bed, and not on an ugly tire rack bolted the the back door.
Entire van is covered with sound deadening material.
Body / Exterior:
Almost everything is custom.
Fiberglass Fender Flares have been widened and modified for that great look.
Fiberglass wing is removable.
Front of the van has been lengthened 5” to accommodate the ’75 El Camino Square Headlight buckets and for overall look. All of this work on the fenders and hood is welded steel. (And some Bondo)
Custom recessed Aluminum grill and Center Section for that Classic Mopar Look.
Fog lights embedded in the front spoiler.
Front Spoiler is removable for towing or whatever.
Rear doors have been welded together and converted to a Gull Wing. Door is secured with two heavy duty locking latches. All this work is steel including the recessed tail lights.
Rear windows have 70’s style louvers.
Custom recessed tail lights, and custom recessed license plate. All side marker lights have been converted to ’68 Charger style side markers. All these lights are LED.
Fat Cooper Cobra tires in the rear and wide fronts give the van that lowdown look.
Cool square exhaust straight out of the 70’s tucked up under custom running boards that are strong enough to stand on.
Extra / Spare parts:
Extra Windshield including rubber and sealant. (if the buyer wants it) Other miscellaneous parts that I can find will be included. Touch up paint also included.
All documentation that I have is included, but may need to be organized better.
Includes a factory shop manual (Very Used)
Issues:
The Van Runs and drives fine, but it overheated on me. Need to look at this. Last time it overheated I was coming back from the Goodguys show with the temperature about 100 degrees here in Texas.I do not know the cause.
New Steering Box is solid as a rock on the street, which is UNUSUAL for these vans. However are slow speeds that box gives some intermittent resistance. I live with this because performance on the road is so good, I overlook this.
When the transmission was rebuilt, they did not replace the “Rooster Comb”. This is the mechanism in the transmission that gives the detent for shifting gears. So shifting gears feels sloppy, (but really is not) and it seems like you are “fishing” for gears. I have gotten used to this and don’t have an issue with it.
There is an opening in the interior for a ceiling vent which is not installed.
All of these issues can be fixed, I just do not have the time.
Van is sold "As is" for MUCH LESS than I have invested, not counting my time. The buyer should be mechanically inclined and willing to do the work.
I will help load the van onto a carrier that you arrange. It will be able to drive onto any trailer.
