1993 Dodge Ram Van B350

VEHICLE

1993 Dodge Ram 350 Stretch Van with Sportsmobile Camper Conversion

5.9L (5899cc) V8 F OHV 16V, gasoline powered, RWD.

Automatic transmission, power steering, power locks, power windows.

Low mileage! 125k total miles. It was never any owner’s daily driver, self included: used solely as a recreational vehicle.

Three total owners, self included. 100% California vehicle for its first 28 years! In New England for the past two years: OTR in summer only, always garaged & never driven in winter.

Absolutely zero body rust, & undercarriage is in extraordinarily clean “Western” condition (see photos).

See photos of the Carfax I ran when I bought it in 2021. I have all my maintenance records.

Clean California title, and current Vermont State Inspection (good through June 2024).

5 new Cooper Discoverer HT3 tires (4 + spare): 225/75R16. Only 2k mi on them.

Known imperfections:

  • Cruise control has never worked since I’ve owned it.

  • There is a small palm-sized dent, that was there when I bought it, in the far upper corner of the passenger side rear (not affecting poptop or rear door). See photos. It is a soft indentation without any paint break.

  • Some of the exterior graphic tape has gotten sun damaged over the years (see photos).

  • Driver side rear taillight lens is cracked.

  • Cigarette lighter in the dashboard has never worked, but all the other options for electrical outlets throughout the van do.

CAMPER:

Factory original Sportsmobile manufactured in Fresno CA.

When parked, Sportsmobile top pops up plumb for over 7 ft of headroom throughout–no crouching required! (Sportsmobile calls this upper area the “Penthouse.”)

Cushioned inserts create an upper sleeping berth in the Penthouse–note that this is a second berth in addition to the floor level dinette.

Rear booth dinette converts into a bed that will sleep one or two people. (Lower berth is more cushiony but better for shorter people.)

Penthouse will also sleep one or two people. (Upper berth is firmer, more like a futon, but better for taller people.)

Neither berth is any standard mattress size, but “full” is closest to the dimensions of both.

In addition to the engine battery, there is also an RV “house” battery. (Batteries are isolated & cannot drain each other.)

Galley kitchen with propane stove, kitchen sink, electric refrigerator & freezer (plenty cold enough to make ice), pantry, tons of cabinets, & storage. Even a clothes closet! (No suitcase required when you vacation in a Sportsmobile.)

Countertops, cabinetry, & upholstery all original and all in excellent condition: no rips, gouges, stains, etc. Upholstery was kept covered for 17 years by second owners. It simply isn't faded & appears factory new! All interior hardware in good working condition.

Front seats are captain’s chairs. Front passenger seat swivels 180 degrees to face rear & be used as a “desk chair” in a portion of the galley that can double as an office (headsup, remote workers)!

Want to pull into an established campground? City water & electric hookups make it turnkey!

Prefer to boondock? Go for days on the freshwater tank & the RV battery, no problem.

External propane tank (full) fuels the range & the cabin heater (when you are parked).

No rips, tears, or leaks in canvas Penthouse, screens, windows, or top. (See photos.)

Many extras: Original Sportsmobile documentation, Chilton manual, all shorelines for water & electric, shades & curtains for every window. I have just about everything you need for effective “van life” and am happy to include those items with purchase if you would like them.

What the camper doesn’t have:

  • No cabin A/C. The vehicle itself, of course, has dashboard A/C for use when driving.

  • No plumbed toilet, though I will include with purchase a NIB chemical toilet.

  • No plumbed shower.

  • No HWH.

  • The faucet is no longer original; I had to replace it when the old one finally sprung a leak. (I believe that is the only nonoriginal camper part.)

Here’s a unique opportunity to buy a Western vehicle in the East. The van is rock solid & rolls like a tank! I set the reserve for less than I paid for it, as it saved our hides during covid & doesn’t owe me anything. I apologize to prospective buyers in advance, but the van is in such nice condition that I’m not willing to sell it to a person who isn’t able to garage it when not in use. It’s made it too far in its life to end up moldering away & rusting out in some field or something. Happy to pass it on to someone who will take as good care of it as all of its owners have over the past thirty years!
