Description:

1979 Dodge Other Pickups

1979 Dodge D100 Prospector short bed pick up truck. All original body and paint. The original drivetrain was replaced with a 1997 Cummins diesel 4bt PPUMP engine and a Getrag G360 5spd manual transmission with overdrive. Additional engine and drivetrain details below.

The truck runs and drives excellent around town or at freeway speeds. It is a bare bones version of the model with manual steering and brakes. The brakes are new all the way around as well as new Gabriel heavy duty shocks.

Everything works on the truck (lights, heat/defrost, gauges, e-brake, etc) with the exception of the speedometer. The transmission has provisions for a mechanical drive, but it will need converted to drive the factory speedometer.

The body is virtually rust free and only has a few small issues (pictured) and no underlying rust. The driver side floor pan could afford to be replaced as it has seen better days from years of moisture carried in from the driver, but it is not a necessity and can be enjoyed as is. Sound insulation was installed under the factory floor mat.

Overall, the truck is an excellent example of an original short bed Dodge truck with the addition of a modern diesel drivetrain. The paint has an original dull patina look with thinning paint on the hood and roof. It is very straight with little to no dents and all the body panels line up nicely. The paint can easily be brought back to a high luster finish if desired. Extensive amounts of build pictures that show all the fabricated parts and additional details not mentioned to make the truck run, drive and function like it was meant to be this way.
