Description:

1958 Dodge Power Wagon

1958 Dodge Power Wagon M56B1 (long wheel base version of M37). Only around 500 M56B1s were ever made, with only a handful still in existence.
Body is quite solid for a vehicle of this age, great candidate for restoration. This vehicle has the highly sought front Braden winch, and a very rare spotlight (each can be sold for large amounts). It has the rear PTO set-up, not sure if was to power a welder, etc??? Original drivetrain and 5.83 gears. Newly fitted Hummer dual deadlock rims with custom Budd centers from Trailworthy Fabs, with 37 x 12.5 military tires. Original split rims with old tires will be included. It has two new batteries, waterproof sparkplug adapters from Midwest Military, I may have new lock-out hubs for it as well (they shop never installed, but I have to try to get them back). Any other parts I find will be included...

I purchased and drove this vehicle home over 60 miles a year ago. All the lights, winch, etc all worked at that time. It went to a local shop for an exhaust and they suggested replacing the wiring. Unfortunately the exhaust work was poorly welded and the wiring was in torn-up and will need to be re-wired. This is a project vehicle, will need wiring sorted out and a tune-up, not currently operational. I have driven and it ran quite well, started great, etc. unfortunately this will need work to get back to that stage and I do not have the ability to do it.
If you don't know how rare the M56 is, please do a search. A ton of information out there and the M37 parts are available from several military vehicle suppliers. This is an excellent candidate for a high-end engine conversion... these old power wagons are neat.
It weighs around 6000 lbs and will need to be trailered/towed. It rolls well and can easily go onto a standard roll-back or trailer. Buyer to responsible for arrange shipping/collect, but I am happy to coordinate accordingly with your shipper/collector. Local inspections prior to auction ending are highly welcome.
