Description:
1974 Dodge Challenger Base
DescriptionUp for sale is a 1974 Dodge Challenger that was built on April 29th 1974. The consensus among the Mopar community is that April 29th is the latest production date observed of any 1974 Challenger; making this one possibly one of, or even THE last first generation E-body built. My brother bought this one when he thought the one he really wanted got away. The situation changed and now he has two, so this one must go.ConditionAll work was performed by our family mechanic, unless otherwise noted. Documentation of repairs by our family mechanic are available upon request.
Body:A Texas car up until 2018 and it shows. Original floors in excellent shape, and frame rails are solid. Trunk floor was patched at some point, but the remaining sheet metal appears original. The car has had a repaint at some point in its life. It is presentable enough to drive as-is, and doesnt seem to deter passerby'sfrom stopping. It got to the point where our family mechanic had to work on the car with the door shut due to constant interruptions!
InteriorSeats front and back and carpet are in excellent driver condition. The dash has a single minor crack near the gauge cluster, but nice otherwise. Door panels are clean.
DrivetrainNumbers-matching engine has been tuned up and runs strong and smooth. The transmission shifts as it should and shows no signs of trouble with the rear differential.
Steering/SuspensionFront end and rear suspension checked and tight. New rear shocks.Steering system checked and tight.
Fuel/Exhaust SystemsThe gas tank is new and replaced by the previous owner. The carburetor is freshly rebuilt. Headers and exhaust system installed by previous owner, but header gaskets changed by our family mechanic. She sounds mean like a Mopar should.
BrakesNew front brakes. Rears checked out okay and adjusted. Parking brake serviced but haven't tried it yet. New master cylinder.
Cooling SystemNew radiator installed by the previous owner. New heater core installed, but is bypassed from when the old one failed.
TiresTires installed by the previous owner in like-new condition.
Lights/ElectricalHere's where a small job turned into a big one, and lucky for the next owner they don't need to worry about it. My brother, who is OCD about everything working in a car decided to fix a few dash light bulbs that were burnt out. Come to find out, at some point some of the bulb holders were shorted and melted. Two weeks and $1000+ later, a American Autowire OEM replacement dash harness was professionally installed by an automotive electrician who came recommended by our family mechanic. With the exception of the radio, which is missing, everything works: lights, wipers, horn even the key buzzer. Some of the under hood wiring was brittle and that was professionally repaired at the same time.

SummaryThis is an ideal builder car or drive it as-is. Mopar fever has priced out nearly everyone. Here's a rare chance to get in on the ground floor of collectible Mopars. Don't waste your time with a $10K carcass. Bid with confidence on this low-reserve, running/driving slice of history. Please read the terms and conditions below carefully before bidding. I strongly advise you arrange for an inspection of the car, as all I can go on is the information listed above. While this is a great example, remember that it is also a 45 year old car that is not perfect. I was burned by a buyer on eBay who damaged my spotless feedback record by choosing to make no contact prior to buying the item. He received the item, again made no contact to try to resolve/discuss his claims, then left me negative feedback two months later. My point is, I'm here to represent this car as transparently as possible, but i don't have visibility into the history of the car, nor can i predict what it will need in the future, or whether it will meet your expectations. I'll answer any questions you have, and accommodate any inspection prior to bidding. Lets act like adults here! Sold with a clear PA title. 3 hours from the New York Port - INTERNATIONAL BUYERS WELCOME!
