1993 Dodge Dakota LE Pickup

Pro Street is a style of street-legal custom car popular in the 1980's, usually built to imitate a Pro Stock class race car. Pro Street cars should appear to be more at home on the drag strip than the street, while remaining street legal and not gutted like a Race Car or Bracket Race car. Typically called a Backhalf car (tubbed). Cars of this type always feature two of the following three modifications: a highly modified, with supercharger or turbo, large capacity V8, V12, V10, V6 engine, a narrowed rear axle coupled with oversized rear wheels & at least a 14" wide x 5+" sidewalls tire (located within the wheel wells) for maximum grip and wheelie bars and an NHRA legal roll cage. Cars of this type should remain unmodified from the firewall back, keeping stock floorpans, a full interior with windshield wipers, carpet and working lights.

For consignment I give you this street legal (with the right plates...at least in PA) Pro Stock imitator, and intimidator. Yes, it's a HEMI, yes, its MOPAR, and yes, the inside of this truck appears as normal. That's about it though for the normal stuff.

Exterior
Excepting the large hood scoop, flare fender kit, with running board addition, rear spoiler, and wheelie bar, this truck would be your everyday un assuming Dodge Dakota pickup. With the rear tubbed to accommodate the wide racing tires, and a totally restored and modified engine bay, no one would suspect otherwise. Although with a turn of the key, you will hear otherwise.

Interior
Real wood, and real leather replace the stock black plastic vinyl dash and adorns the oversize padded buckets. A few additional gauges have been added to keep track of all the vitals as you pull up to the line, or should I say traffic light, at the risk of attracting the proverbial "fuzz"? In the middle of the buckets is a Cheetah shifter. A beautifully restored bed lined with thick dark grey felt, and housing 2 red fuel cells sits behind the driver's compartment. This is to have plenty of space to rush your groceries home and to ensure the ice cream is not melted by the time you arrive there.

Drivetrain
Brace yourself for the Motorhead terms: Starting at the basics we have a Mopar performance cast iron Hemi block, fitted with CP Hemi pistons which insert into a 4.255 bore/4.150 stroke and operating at a 10.5:1 compression ratio. These are pushed up and down by a Mopar performance 4340 Forged 4.150 stroke, 8 bolt flange crankshaft. A double roller timing chain works with a custom ground solid lifter camshaft, and MSD pro billet distributor and a power master alternator. Sitting atop is a ported Offenhouser intake manifold with twin 4-barrel Edelbrock carbs. Exhaling is done through long tube headers, and a Borla exhaust.

Undercarriage
In a very clean and rust-free environment we note Caltracs bars, a narrowed Dana 60 Rear, manual brakes with disc in front and drum in rear, and a line lock kit.

A well-documented build with photos and receipts can dig deeper into the surface of this redux/transformation. Plenty of attention was paid to performance and then wrapping it in an interesting exterior. Definitely a one of a kind Dakota Pro Street (legal) truck.
