1989 DODGE DAKOTA 4 X 4 CONVERTIBLE FACTORY PICKUP 59K ORIGINAL MILES
1989 Dodge Dakota
I have owned this truck for about 5 years. I have put 3k miles on it in the past 2 years. The 4 x 4 with manual transmission with only 59k original miles has to be one of the lower mileage ones left. Since I have owned it I has replaced: the exhaust with a true dual exhaust with no catalytic converters, spray painted the majority of the frame with 2 coats of POR 15,tires, brakes, starter, alternator, ignition wires, sparkplugs, distributor cap, rotor, pickup coil, air cleaner, MAP sensor, fuel pump (dealership- $800), transmission fluid changed, fresh Mobil 1engine oil and filter this week, headlight switch, ignition switch, tailgate cables and several other sensors. That being said it is still an old truck that has some minor repair needed. It has 3 indicators lights on the dash currently.1-brakes. This is due to the emergency brake not working. If you raise up the emergency brake pedal the light goes out. When I bought it there was hardware missing that guides the emergency cable underneath truck. I bought the majority of these missing parts from a salvage yard but have not put them on. 2- wiper light. I believe the wiper arms have come loose from the motor. Also low windshield fluid sensor in tank needs replacing.3- maintenance required light just came on as truck is getting close to 60k service requirements. I believe I'm am the 3rd owner. Previous 2 owners were from Ohio. The frame is extremely clean but I did notice some rust on the rocker panels especially the passengers side (see pictures). Also the bottom seam of the tailgate (see pictures). Several times while driving it at night the headlights flickered. The Dakota forum said it was due to an undersized relay for the lights from the factory which causes over heating of the relay. As one can see in the pictures there are several nasty cracks in the dash. On close inspection you can see cigarette type burns in the seat and carpet. Radio also works little or poorly. The truck does have all 4 of the VERY hard to find plastic center wheel caps (I have seen them sell for $150 each on ebay). The convertible top is original. Also the body paint is overall poor. I have owned 5 of these trucks. My first in 1993. 4 have been low mileage like this. I have seen every one listed on ebay for the past 10 years. You will certainly find a cheaper high mileage one. Finding one with under 60k miles is a rare opportunity. The starting price is beyond fair. I saw a 2 wheel drive with 112k miles sell this summer for $11k (not on ebay).I do have the truck listed locally so I may end the auction if I have no bids. Once again we are looking at an old truck. Please ask questions or call. I want the new owner to be happy. Thank you Joe 608 712-9104. Truck is located in Deforest, WI 53532
