Description:
1968 Dodge Power Wagon
This auction is for my 1968 Dodge W200 4x4. I have owned the truck since the early '90's and it was my daily driver for fourteen years. I bought a new truck in 2005 and parked this one with the intention of putting in a big block V8 and restoring it to show room condition. After kidding myself for the last fifteen years, I'm finally throwing in the towel--I will never restore this vehicle. Hopefully someone out there has a shop and the skills to make it happen. This truck has never been in a collision and is almost 100% original. The only notable modifications I have made were to add tubular exhaust headers, an electronic ignition, an AM/FM cassette deck (don't know why I bothered--you can't hear it over the engine noise), and halogen headlamps. I also put in an electric windshield washer pump instead of the ridiculous manual pump. The original distributor, exhaust manifolds, exhaust crossover pipe and AM radio are included in the sale. The original wheels and tires were shot from sitting in the woods all those years so I put brand new, zero mile, BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A K2 tires on it (33" tall) and new steel rims. If you want split rims I'll sell you some but can't imagine why anyone would want them. The truck has the original 318 V8 and NP435 4 speed transmission. The 4.10 Dana 60 rear axle and Dana 44 front axle are also original, as is the NP 201 divorced twin stick transfer case. I drug the truck out of the woods two weeks ago, gave it a pressure washing and changed the fluids. It also needed new brake and clutch hydraulic fluid which I added and bled the systems. The starter tested bad, so I replaced it along with the ignition relay and put in a new battery. It won't turn over, although the crankshaft turns freely. Someone with more electrical knowledge than me will have to get it running but I have priced the truck accordingly. It did run good when I parked it fifteen years ago; no reason to think that it won't run again.
The truck is a good starting point for a restoration but would also make a good hunting rig as is. If anyone out there is interested in following through on my original big block conversion idea, I did buy another '68 W200 with a supposedly "good running" 383 2bbl. motor, although I've never heard it run. If interested, I can talk to you about the parts truck but this auction is only for the truck described here. Although the truck has been collision free, it does have rust from sitting in the woods in Northwest Montana. Please look at the pictures; I tried to portrait the rust areas so there are no surprises for potential bidders. I didn't pull back the floor mat and look at the floors but can GUARANTEE that the floors are rusty and will need to be replaced. I've never seen a '61 through '71 Dodge truck without rusty floors.
The successful bidder will be required to put a $500 down payment through PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction. The balance is due within two weeks and can be in the form of cash, cashier's check, personal check or wire transfer, however, the truck will not be available for shipment until payment has been cleared by my bank. The successful bidder will be provided a clear, transferable Montana title and a bill of sale. Speaking of shipment, if you want this truck please be aware that it is in NW Montana. I've sold a couple of other vehicles on Ebay in the past and know that shippers do not like to travel to NW Montana. Here's a thought--the truck is eight miles from Glacier International Airport and fifteen miles from a U-Haul regional distribution center. I'm happy to pick you up at the airport, drive you to U-Haul and help you load the truck on a rented truck/trailer combination. Thanks for looking and good luck if you place a bid!
