1970 Dodge Charger R/T
Up for sale is this stunning 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. This 12 year rotisserierestored master piece is a real deal XS 440 Magnum, 727 automatic transmission, factory A/C, power steering, power disk brake, AM/8 track 4 speaker stereo, 8 way bucket seat, 1 of 394 original FJ5 sub lime green chargers, 1 of 1 in this color combo with a luggage rack. This car has won every award there was to have won. It is 100% perfect from top to bottom. Only the pass front fender and lower left 1/4 panels were replaced with factory NOS parts. All of the glass is brand new. everything you can name was replaced or restored. EVERYTHING. This car has been featured in issue #135 of Hemmings Muscle machines as well as a few others. In 2013 it won best in show at the Florida Mopar nationals, 2014 Cooper city Founders AACA best of show, 2015 Miami best of show, 2015 dream car classics best of show and a bunch of other concourse best of show venues. This car spent it's entire life in texas before the start of the restoration. The original engine was damaged and as not used. All other components are born with components. The engine used is a high nickel content 1973 motor home block. The original heads were used. The heads were rebuild with bronze valve guides. Stainless valves, triple valve springs, the heads were ported and polished, the factory intake manifold was also ported and polish. the factory exhaustmanifolds were gasket matched. the crank shaft was shot peened, cut and polished, 6 pack connecting rods were used to make this engine bulletproof, Keith black Hypereutectic quench dome 10.5 to 1 pistons were used as well as a double roller timing chain. a custom ground camshaft was made specific for this engine combo. It all looks bone stock. Runs on 92 octane gas, idles as smooth as it did when brand new. The only difference is around 500hp instead of the original 375. The original 727 was rebuild to Hemi specs. This car is in the Charger registry and the factory trim tag was mailed to known Mopar expert Wayne Wooten and decoded to insure the vehicle is what it is. I have all letters and proof as well as docs. from expert Chris Germain. Mopars are pretty much iron clad because the vin number tells you it is a real R/T. Just the options are in question if you don't have an original trim tag. This car also upon disassembly was found to have 2 broadcast sheets from another charger that was on the assembly line at the same time. This was a very common problem back in the day. If 2 cars were getting the same color interior and the same seats, the worker just stuck the broadcast sheets behind the seats and the next guy grabbed the wrong ones. I have tons of phots and docs that come with the car. I am reluctant to sell it. As crazy as it sounds it is finished so perfect on the underside I don't have the heart to drive it without spending 3 hours re cleaning the underside. The car has only traveled a little over 3000 miles since the restoration was completed. If you have any questions al all please call Rob at 631-838-8872
