1965 Dodge Dart 1960's Chrome
Ladies and Gents - it is with a heavy heart that I am considering passing on this project to a loving home - my 1965 Dodge Dart GT Hardtop. I want to provide REAL MOPAR fans an opportunity to get this from me... I am neither desperate, nor destitute and will only sell this to someone who really wants it. There are pictures attached of my history with this car.I bought this guy in Arizona off some dope-smoking skateboarders, who would rather buy weed than a transmission rebuild, back in 1992.
Since then I have done a ton of work on it, kept it running, and have used it as a daily driver for 2,3, and 4 year periods, off and on, while serving nearly 25 years in the Army. It has no noteworthy rust. It had the factory, 13" stamped wheels with hubcaps and I replaced them with the Fenton or Western Wheel, 14", Aluminum "Jet Turbine" fin mags in 1992. We pulled the dying, original Slant 6 out (225) and dropped a 225 out of a 1972 Valiant in it in 1996. The interior is probably the second interior this car has ever had and needs a detail tuck job, but is comfortable. This car has no heater blower motor, so heat and defrost don't work but the heater core is good and the radiator core is also good (replaced in 2002). This car has power stearing and brakes, horn and guages work. Blinker, radio and cigarette lighter all work. I put an under-dash Stereo in the car in 2004 as well as new speakers in the unique 3-speakerbank in the back window ledge. I got a new paint-job in 2004 while I still lived in Kansas and just before a long road trip and then it was put in storage. Ebay makes you list a milage in numerical figures... the true milage is unknown.
I was in Iraq in 2003 and when I was injured, I came home and got the work done I just mentioned. Then I took a 4500 mile roadtrip in this guy from Fort Riley, Kansas to Tucson, Arizona... then back through NM, OK, and Kansas... then on through to Chicago, Kalamazoo and Detroit... and then back to Fort Riley. This car is a beast and runs consistently. It was in storage in Kansas (indoors) from 2005-2011, and ran like a champ with the first key turn when I pulled it out and brought it back to Colorado. Since then, when not overseas with the Army, it has been my daily driver during Spring, Summer and Fall weather.
But wait... there's more. I have another 1965 Dart GT, also an Arizona car. It has the 273 Commando V8 (builder block and heads - not running - factory Hi-Po Cam, 4-Barrel manifold, etc...) it also has 3 of 4 original 1966 Cragar Mags (with the Blue Caps) and the chrome is pretty good on them... All the sheet metal is straight and I have tons of extras... (I will take pictures of this stuff by request as the whole kit is in storage as of now).
I also have the factory manual and parts books reprints for this model Dodges - they come with the deal.
I want to make a clean break from this "hobby/way-of-life" because of priorities... and I am not getting any younger... at 51, I have to consider how much time I have to do all the projects I want to do... this is probably something I will never finish. I am selling my slice of this "hobby/way-of-life" and am not planning on selling these two cars and tons of extra parts in bits and pieces... if it comes to that... I'll just keep the stuff and make time for them someday... It's a total deal for someone who wants to get into restoring and owning rad, 1963-1966 A-Body MOPARs that are getting harder and harder to find... Please... serious inquiries only - Contact me and we can arange to chat about this.
