Description:

1987 Dodge Ram Van

Very low mileage for it's age. I have owned it for 10 years and have used it for Van Camping. I have upgraded the transmission to a fresh rebuilt 727, one of the strongest Chrysler transmissions out there. The brakes have been gone through completely, and it has a rebuilt alternator, hoses and belts and water pump. Has fresh Goodyear tires. This particular van has the higher 2.70 rear end, so it is not that good for heavy towing. It will tow a medium trailer, but I would bump the diff to about 3.25 at least. I am now retired and 74 and I do not get out as much as I used to, so it has been in storage I have put about 10,000 miles on it over the past 10 years. The engine is sound, but needs valve cover gaskets. The driveshaft is rebuilt too. The interior has 4 rotatable captains chairs, all of which recline quite a bit. The back bench seat reclines into a full size bed that is very comfortable. The vehicle is an Oregon registered one and I have moved to Northern Calfornia, which is where is is stored now. The Oregon registration is lapsed but is very inexpensive. Because it was purchased in Oregon, I didn't have to smog it. It might be smogable, as it is stock. I do not know. It does have some things that need attention, but they are not critical. As it is an Oregon vehicle, where it spent most of it's life, it does have some minor paint rust, which is easily repairable. This is mainly on the roof. Other than that, the rest of the body and frame are sound. It has been driven in the mountains up to very high places and works great. Keep in mind, it is a carburated vehicle, so it has some of the quirks of those types.
