1955 Dodge C1-B-8, "5 window" ½ ton pickup
1955 Dodge Other Pickups
Have you always wanted to own a piece of history from an era gone by (1950s) and never to be experienced again? Well now is your opportunity to own this classic 1955 Dodge C1-B8, "5 window" ½ ton pickup (Bessy).
This truck is a Southern California/Arizona truck with nice body (no rust) and decent paint job with a few dings/scrapes/scratches (see pics). Clean AZ title. Equipped with the original flat head 6 cyl, 218 c.i.d (total rebuild Sept 2018), manual steering with 4 speed manual transmission. Clutch and brakes work fine. Drives really nice down the road.
All glass/windows/molding/weather stripping are in good condition. However, front windshield had a small leak where the molding comes together at the bottom-center but has since been repaired - see front windshield pic. All window cranks/door handles work. Head lights, turn signals, brake lights, wipers and heater work. Speedometer/Odometer work, but gauges in instrument panel (AMPS, Fuel, Oil & HEAT) do not work. However, aftermarket oil pressure gauge works. Driver side door locks from the inside (normal for that time period) and the passenger door locks with key. New radiator cap and thermostate, New tires, New wiper arms/blades, New glove box and New battery (12 volt).
Recently purchased and included in sale:
·Oil Bath Air Cleaner (not sure it is correct one, but mounting dia. of 2 1/4" is correct size and I am sure someone with the right skill set can make it work)
·New spare rim/used tire
·New Scissor jack and lug bolt wrench
·New Door weather stripping and adhesive
·New Full-size rubber bed mat (1" plywood under the rubber mat)
·New Tool box (48â€x10â€x14â€)
·Dodge (Job-Rated) Trucks Shop Manual C1 Series
Bessy issues I know about:
1. Instrument panel gauges don't work: AMPS, Fuel, Oil and Heat (engine temp).
2. Cigarette lighter is present but doesn't work.
3. No rear bumper and missing driver side/passenger side sun visors.
4. Small/slow leak around the oil dip stick - See pic.
"Preventative" Things I would do to Bessy:
Replace water pump, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel sending unit and rebuild carburetor. All these items can be purchased for around $330 (plus tax & shipping) from DCM Classics in Detroit (WWW.dcmclassics.com)
1.Water pump #C-134 @ $110
2.Fuel Pump #F-269 @ $95
3.Fuel Filter #F-293 @ $38
4.Fuel Sending Unit #F-276 @ $40
5.Carb Rebuild Kit #F-276 @ $45
This is not a show truck, but it is a good daily driver around town! So, buy it and drive as is or buy it and take it to the next level!
As usual, invested way more than the asking price:>)). I saved her from the scrap yard. So, who is willing to be the next steward/caretaker of 62-year-old Bessy!
