1957 Dodge Pickup Truck
1957 Dodge Other Pickups D100
1957 Dodge D100 pickup
A little background on the 57 Dodge Truck. The fifties saw the auto manufactures aggressively redesigning vehicles trying to one up each other. That created a unique scenario for Dodge Trucks. In 56, Dodge used what is referred to as a 'butterfly hood'.Meaning it was a multi piece hood and opened from each side.In 57, Dodge went to a one-piece hood that was rounded in the front with a single headlight on each side.In 58, Dodge stayed with a one-piece hood but squared it off on the front and went to twin headlights on each side.
I have owned this truck for 4 years, it has sat for 3.5 of those years. It is time for someone else to enjoy and have fun with it.When I purchased the truck, I was told it came from New Mexico, and it had at least one repaint.I cannot find any evidence of the truck being in an accident or body repair work or rust.
The little bit of time I have driven the truck it drove very well, did not pull to the left or right (there is no power steering).Started, stopped and ran well.(Keep in mind there are manual drum brakes and it is a heavy truck)
With that said, the truck has sat for 3.5 years. The last time I drove it, (summer 2018) the rear brakes were sticking, the carb drained down quickly.I would think the carb and brakes should be adjusted, rebuilt etc. The truck needs tires. They are pretty aged and showing signs of dry rot.The driver's side door latch should be rebuilt, door shuts correctly most of the time but occasionally it does not close correctly.I have access to a resource who rebuilds the door latches. Then you need to decide if the truck can be enjoyed the way it is or if you want to keep going.
The good news, I restored a different 57 Dodge truck (my grandfathers) so every piece of rubber is available for this truck.Hood seal, door seals, window felt, etc. There is an interior kit in the truck, it is ok but if you want to replace it I have access to complete factory correct interior kits.
The windows roll up and down and the vent windows operate as they should. The seat has a cover on it, I assume that is because it should be recovered.

With all that said, I spent several years working on my 57 Dodge D100.I have a complete list of contacts for parts, help with questions, etc.(the list goes with the truck)The Dodge Truck community is very strong, they are a good group of guys that are motivated to keep as many of these trucks on the road as possible.
