1970 Dodge Challenger
Finish out your collection with one of the rarest cars in the mopar world!
1970 Dodge Challenger RT Convertible with 426 Hemi engine. Sublime was the original color. Black interior with original front and back seats and new carpet.
Restoration was done in 1979 with NOS parts. Was painted plum crazy to match our hemi hardtop at the time.Original fenders, passenger door, decklid, valance go with the car.
A factory copy of the broadcast sheet was retrieved from the back of the passenger seat. You can see the spring marks and age on it. The original date and VIN is still on the drivers door. Original stamping for VIN on radiator support, cowl and of course title.(see pics)
Engine story: The engine stayed in St. Louis are from 1969 to 2015 when we got to purchase it back. Inearly yearsthe vin numbers on the block were ground off as the owner was trying to match his 66 satellite. The satellite numbers were stamped in the flat area which made no sense because in 66 there was no stamping area. The motor remained in the satellite til 1984. It was removed and set in the corner of his garage til purchased in 2015. For decades we knew the where abouts of our motor and had always heard the story of the satellite by countless people at car shows etc We do belong to the national hemi owners association and local Mopar clubs as we own several hemi cars. When we purchased the motor back in 2015 we were happy to have it back even with the crazy things that happened to it. It was through exciting information that we were told that their is another place where you can find info on the motor. A Julian date code! This number is around the starter and if you plug that number in mopars Julian website it will bring up info on the motor. To our excitement the Julian date code as seen in the picture tells us the plant, 426 engine, and the next four digits match the broadcast sheet 100% October 23. 1969. The website for the code is maxwedge.com Chrysler's 10,000 day calendar. This proves that this block matches our car without a doubt.
The engine was recently professionnallyrebuilt close to original specs with new internals. The block was done by kc engine. The heads were done by Noland Bros heads .Graveyard carsrecommended Scott Harmes for the carbs. They came back looking brand new..Their is no rust on the belly pans of the car. The only placethat their issome is in the trunk valley trays and only in 3 areas. Front suspension was recently rebuilt. The paint shows signs of wear from 40 years ago but the car has always been garaged and has no rust. The only thing it needs is taken down andput back to lime green. In 2016 a sublime one of the nine sold for 1.65 million at Mecuum. 1.8 if you add the 10% buyers fee. Google it and see for yourself. The cuda hemi convertibles are in the 2 to 4 million range so we think our price is beyond fair for a car that needs a paintjob. Wire transfer is our method of payment and can be discussed atlater time. Car can be seen by appointment.
