EQUIPMENT
It has an excellent factory 361 2bbl V-8 engine, an excellent factory push button "jukebox"automatic transmission, power steering, power convertible top, dual exhaust, dual vent windows, factory am radio, factory gauges, original convertibletop boot,4 matchingP215-75-15 Cornell 808 all season steel belted radial whitewall tires, factory tinted front windshield & a new factory owners manual.
DESCRIPTION
This car runs excellent! The engine runs nice & cool & the transmission shifts smoothly & when & as it should. There is a slight left exhaustdonut leak when you 1st start it & periodically while driving. But outside of that the exhaust is tight, solid & quiet. It's pretty smooth riding as well & has rear air shocks hence it's stance. It has the typical convertible interior squeaks & rattles when driving. It has BRAND NEW DRUM BRAKES front & back. New shoes, hardware, wheel cylinders & brake lines. The drums are fine too. The frame has had repairs on both railsnext tothe front tires by the prior owner & it is solid & holds it's own weight on the lift. The undercarriage has typical surface rust & also still has the FACTORY UNDER-COATING on it! The floors are all very solid too as I just had bothfront & left rear floors as well as a very small spot on the left front rail professionally welded at Buffalo's top welding shop. You can see the oldfloor hole's from underneaththe car but that's moot as they are all rock solid now. The power steering doesn't work as the pump needs to be rebuilt so there's play in the wheel because of it. Fix the power steering & that should go away.I also have a new belt for it that goes with the car. Aside from parking, it steers easily without it so you really don't have to fix that. The same is for the power top. The motor is there but doesn't work so I just put it up & down manually. It unlocks & locks down just fine. The top has a couple slices on the driver side covered by black tape, a couple very smallsplits& is pulling away at the corners of the rear windows a bit. The rear window is faded but you can stillsee a little through it.You can get a new top on line as it needs oneor just drive it the way it is. The top boot is in excellent shape with no rips & the snaps are perfect. It needs to be stretched a bit in the sun so the center snaps can reach the car body snaps (see picture). All the glass is finewith no cracks. All the side windows crank down& the vent windows crank out perfectly. You can hear the radio turn on in the speaker but it doesn't play music. The interior lights don't work but the headlights, heater, defrost, wipers, horn emergency brake & blinkers all work fine. The factory front blinker lights were by-passed as a previous owner installed custom blinkers in the grill& theywork as well.
The car had some body & mild rear custom work doneby a previous owner. I think it's a cool rat rod looking car the way it is! There's very little if any outer body rust. The rear tail lights were removed & body filled in with asolidribbed look in their place, The new brake lights & blinkers work & there are no reverse lights. As evident in the picture, I have the original tail& reverse lights & they go with the sale of the car. One is in tact & the other needs a redlens & to be welded back together. There is body filler on thebottom of the quarters & here & there on the car. The trunk lid has been customized with holes cut out to accommodate the custom lights & was riveted & body filled as well.It has a crack on the lip of it that is fixable. For all of you "picky to a fault" people out there & to cover my butt,I'll say that there may be other extremely minor imperfections, dings or scratches that YOU SHOULD EXPECT TO FIND ON ANY USED CAR.This is all obvious & can be seenin the pictures. The trunk floor is as solid as the day it was made! No rust holes! The interior is 100% original! Only 2 seem rips on the driver seat bottom & on the bottom of the driver back part of the seat. The passenger side & the rear seat are showroom condition. The driver side front seat springs are a bit worn but the other seats springs are showroom tight. The carpets are original & are ripped on the passenger side &driver rear.Only one hair line crack on the dash by the mirror & the passenger sun visor doesn't park but doesstay up. The speedometer cable is broken under the dash sothe speedo & odometer aren't working. The miles don't matter on a car of this vintage anyway but they doshow 60,785 now. I contacted a guy who may have one so if he does thenI will include that with the car.It looks like it has the original radiator in it so the miles may still be low.
All 4tires are like brand new& the whitewalls are clean. Of the factory gauges, just the gas gauge works. There are 3 rims with center clips& onewithout& that's why there are no wheel covers on it. The VIN plate starts with a "73". That would be a Dodge Lancer so I think someone changed it over the years or it's factory as it should start with a "61". Six forcustom 880 & "1" for 880 again as there is no code for a convertible that year! Go figure! It doesn't really matter but I wanted to mention that. The bumpers have some surface rust but are solid & so are the door bottoms. I don't have the outside rocker moldings & the top of one of the wider arms but all of the other chrome pieces, car name& emblems are on the car. It has a PUSH BUTTON start mounted next to the light switch on the dash that is cool too! It was installed by a previous owner & looks & works like it's from the factory.
In a nutshell, it has all new brakes, a new battery, new air cleaner, new air filter, new belts, new gas cap, new electronic fuel pump, new carb rebuild& new tires. The original color was either white or burgundy. I love the teal that's on it . It's just about ready for paint as it is A VERY SOLID BODIED CAR. If you're good with body work or know someone who is, it won't take much at all to finish what was started &make it look perfect again. I think teal or bright red with a white top would be awesome! Or just drive it as it is. This look is in style now! I get thumbs up from people every time I drive it. Everyone loves the speedometer on top of the dash visible from the outside too!
If you like these cars then you'll love this one! It's very rare to find one of these for sale that you can just get into & drive &NOT HAVE to do anything to it to enjoy it. I've had fun with it! My reserve is low so just bid up to your means if you choose to & if you win, you get the car. Again, feel free to call me at 716-884-1082 from 8am-11pm EDT with any questions. Good luck bidding if you do & God Bless!
