1970 Dodge Challenger 70 Challenger w/ Viper V10 * NO RESERVE * 6 Speed
I am selling a one of a kind 1970 Dodge Challenger "SRT/10â€, it is an insane machine and you will NEVER find another one like it. It is not a toy - it is dangerous and can hurt you - and every time you start it, drive it, or even just lift up the hood, it will put a smile on your face. The engine is a 3rd Generation V10 from a Dodge Viper backed by a 6 speed Tremec and a dual disc hydraulic clutch. It screams through a set of Borla ATAK mufflers with the exhaust coming out of the rear and you cannot mistake the sound for anything else on the road. It's all kept cool by an aluminum BeCool radiator and electric fan setup.
The fuel system was fully upgraded for fuel injection and the engine electronics are controlled by a stand-alone ECU with a custom wiring harness. Every wire from the ECU is labelled and even has an OBDII diagnostic port just like a new car. It's got classic muscle car looks with the attributes of a modern day 600hp supercar.
The front end is an aftermarket subframe that was modified to fit the big 8.3L Viper V10, along with tubular upper & lower control arms, sway bars, QA1 fully adjustable coilovers, power rack and pinion steering, and of course the 6 piston Wilwood disc brakes with drilled & slotted floating rotors.
A custom driveshaft connects the transmission to the fully independent rear suspension.
The rear end of the car is totally custom fabricated and cannot be purchased off any shelf or parts catalog. The frame rails that come up along the inner wheel well were replaced with a custom-built tubular chassis to accept the rear subframe from a 392 SRT8 Challenger. So now, the complete independent rear end (suspension, differential, & brakes) from an SRT8 Challenger bolts right into a 1970 Challenger and you have a car that rides great and can handle too. It also has coilovers in the rear and the Brembo disc brakes that came on the SRT. The front and rear subframes are connected by large square tubing to stiffen the body for added stability and strength to help handle all the power.
You can't really tell what's lurking under the hood just by looking at the exterior, but the big Wilwood brakes and 20" Viper style wheels do give a hint, as does some subtle badging. The body looks good and midnight black paint completes the sinister look with the wheels, brakes, grill and bumpers all painted to match. It does have imperfections from age and use, but it isn't meant to be a show car. Rear inner wheel openings were trimmed a bit to fit a slightly larger tire; Pirelli PZero Rosso in the rear and GoodYear Eagles up front. The hood is an actual T/A hood. The vinyl gator top is original to the car and in good shape. The floors are in good shape and the trunk pan is new. It also has LED driving lights in the lower valence that look great at night. The original build sheet is still stuck behind the back seat of the car.
The all black interior is nice and clean. Door panels, carpeting, etc... all look good. The pistol grip shifter let's you know you're in a MOPAR but now it controls a short throw 6 speed Tremec transmission. The front bucket seats are leather with suede inserts and red piping from a Tesla. They are 12-way power with lumbar (they are heated too but a switch was never wired to turn it on). Factory power windows work great, and it was an original AC car but the original components are no longer there (AC compressor still on Viper motor if you wanted to add air conditioning). The factory dash is complete and untouched, no radio. Original cluster is disconnected and a small LCD screen in front of the original gauges is used to monitor some of the basics (speedometer isn't connected & fuel gauge is intermittent).
It is not a perfect show car or a SEMA build that gets trailered around, but it is a nasty street machine that demands attention anywhere it goes. People get excited when they see a mean 70 Challenger cruising on the streets or at a show, but when they hear it or see that big Viper V10 under the hood, everything changes and they can't stop staring. It's a great pro-touring car to have fun with and show off with confidence that there will never be another one like it wherever you go.
This is a NO RESERVE auction, meaning the car will be sold to the highest bidder. Sold as-is. Feel free to contact me with any OFFERS, QUESTIONS, or to COME SEE THE CAR in person.
