Description:
1988 Dodge Dakota SE
We have for sale a running/driving 1988 Dodge Dakota pickup truck with a regular cab & 8' bed. It is currently powered by a 3.9 l TBI V-6 engine with automatic transmission & about 151,000 original miles, & IS a daily driver. After having 4 other '87 to '93 Dakota pickups, ALL 4 of which rusted out (body & frames), we spent about a year looking for a rust-free unit. We finally found it with this truck. It is virtually 99% rust-free, including the frame & undercarriage. It has a small spot on one rocker panel (top) & some minor surface rust on another couple spots on the bed & tailgate (see photos), but that is it. It also has a full over-rail bed cover, and is equipped with factory A/C & cruise control (neither of which currently work), and has 4 ALMOST new P225/70R15 tires (roughly 3000 miles). But I didn't buy it for a daily driver, I bought it to build a street rod pickup. We have MOST of the parts to complete the project (listed below) that are included in this listing with the truck. Engine: '92 Dakota 5.2 l (318) V-8 engine with roughly 166,000 miles on it (1 of the 4 previous trucks). We have a used '85 pickup truck electronic ignition distributor, a NEW cast aluminum Magnum air cleaner assembly & valve covers, NEW early 318 water pump, NEW OBX stainless steel headers with the factory "Y" pipe & 4bbl Holley carburetor. The only part we don't have is the intake manifold for the 4-bbl carburetor, which can be gotten off Ebay. Transmission: '85 Dodge truck 727 non-lockup/non overdrive unit with the factory hi-stall torque converter. Rear axle assembly: '93 Dakota 8-1/4" 3.55 sure-grip drum to drum assembly. The two problems with this unit is that it has the 6-lug axles instead of the 5-lug the '88 has, & it came out of a 4X4 Dakota, which means the spring perches will have to be changed to bolt it in. For someone who's more concerned about the 8-1/4" rear, I MAY be able to score an 8-3/4" assembly (without center section) that I would include instead of the 8-1/4". Miscellaneous: New electric fuel pump & other '88 Dakota parts currently listed on Ebay. The run-down on the prices we used to figure the asking price is as follows: Truck: $1500 Engine: $250 Air cleaner: $80 Valve covers: $120 Water pump: $40 OBX Headers: $225 Distributor: $20 Carburetor: $140 Transmission: $250 Rear Axle: $300 Electric Fuel Pump: $80 Miscellaneous: $150 (Photos of parts to follow soon) This gives a total of just over $3200, which is a pretty good deal for just about everything you will need to perform the street rod build. But we have started the listing at $2500, which is an even better deal for it. We reserve the right to end the auction at any time because it is for sale locally also. We have required a $500 deposit through Paypal within 48 hours, and would much rather get the balance through them also, but not required. Buyer is responsible for the transport of the truck, which must be picked up within 3 weeks. IF you are close enough, delivery MIGHT be arranged.
