1978 Dodge Power Wagon Custom

For sale:1978 W150 4x4 shortbox Power Wagon original survivor from the western high desert, never seen salt. Factory black with options including power steering, power brakes, cruise control and factory tach. This truck was special ordered, I remember looking at it brand new at the local Dodge dealer back in 1978 as a teenager. This was the truck every kid drooled over- and now those kids are grown and drooling again over classic trucks. Not a Warlock, but has many of the Warlock options including the buckets/buddy seat, Warlock stripes, and it's one of the original Warlock colors. Add a tuff wheel, the side boards, and chrome the bed steps and you're there. Great truck to restore to the next level or just drive and enjoy while sorting. Expect a lot of interest at the Home Depot or the Steak N Shake!

Exterior: Original survivor showing great patina. Paint is original save hood, which has been replaced. Faded and sun baked all over, with paint flaking off hood, but not rusty. This is arid country, and truck has never seen salt. Only issues I can see on exterior are very small rust spot low on driver front fender and small hole at bottom of driver rear fender - very minor. See detailed pics in linked Photobucket album below. Some surface rust here and there but no rot, very dry truck. Glass is good and windshield not cracked. Pretty straight with one dent low on passenger front fender and one ding in back of cab on driver side. Grille is scratched and dented. Original wood in bed is intact, but there are three iron plates covering where a rack was mounted. Overall decent honest original truck, nothing hidden with undercoat, what you see is what you get.
Interior: Original in good driver condition with no major damage or issues. Thankfully previous owner was aware that floors are rust-prone on these trucks, and he removed some carpet on each side where moisture from snowy boots lays on floor. He treated the surface rust and reinstalled removable floor mats. Needs new carpets, but floors were saved from the destruction typically seen on these. See detail pics in Photobucket album below. Speedo, gauges, lights, turn signals and wipers work. Heater works but switch failed and was replaced with switch mounted below dash. Aftermarket stereo works. Cruise is non-op and some cruise parts missing. Just a solid original, use while sorting further or restore.
Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out well. Truck was in use as a daily driver. Bulletproof 318 V8, 4 speed trans and beefy 31 spline 9 1/4 rear are in working order. 4x4 works in high and low range. No major leaks. Engine is a bit tired, but runs well and should last a good while longer. As is typical of these, puffs smoke at startup from valve seals and oil pressure does drop down at hot idle. Gauges, lights, wiper, heater, etc working. Aftermarket stereo works. Cruise is non-op with some parts missing. 31 x 10.50 tires have maybe a season of tread left and aren't weather cracked. New battery, rebuilt carb, and rebuilt fuel pump. Decent tight old truck that hasn't been abused.
Misc: If you're looking at this ad, you know trucks are hot right now and especially 4x4s. There are some nutty prices out there for anything halfway clean. If you're tired of looking at fluffed-up Ebay rustbuckets, give this honest survivor a look. Truck will sell, NO RESERVE. If you haven't messed with old vehicles before, they do need work so adjust your expectations accordingly. That's part of the fun in this hobby!

This rig runs and drives fine, but flying in and driving it long distance probably isn't a good option. Montana is a huge state and it's a long way between towns. In many areas there are few services and poor cell service. Truck transport isreadily available and affordable. Montana title isclear with no liens, signed off and notarized ready for you to fill in your name as purchaser .After the sale, I can store the truck for up to 30 days free, after that $100 per month storage will be due. Buyer needs to get insurance as soon as car is paid for as I will cancel mine at that time.
