Description:
1982 Dodge Challenger
Exceptionally well maintained and cared for Second generation Dodge Challenger. This true survivor features the 2.6 Liter Hemi MCA Jet engine, 5 speed manual transmission, all wheel disc brakes, road wheel package, and a list of standard features that rivaled it's competition. Today it's a rare collectible, and is a stand out in it's black exterior paint with gold pin stripes and black interior. So rare and unseen, that I have been invited to various car shows just to display it.This 1982 Dodge Challenger is all original down to the AM/FM non-cassette radio, Dealer installed 'SkyPort' sunroof and high mounted brake light are the only additions to this original performance GT.
With 231,000 miles on the odometer, it has been driven an average of less than 6600 miles a year. The original owner maintained this exceptional car and it was checked every few thousand miles.
I am the second owner and purchased it in 2012.It took me 15 years to find one in this condition, and gets looks wherever it goes. This car has been stored in a garage, and driven to car shows and events, cruises and only once since I have owned it has it seen rain (car show Sept 2015), other then that it has been out of the weather.
Engine is the 2.6l Astron MCA Jet with Hemispherical head and sold as HEMI. Per Wikipedia;During the 1970s and 1980s, Chrysler also used the Hemi name for their Australian-made Hemi-6 Engine and applied it to the 4-cylinder Mitsubishi 2.6L engine installed in various North American market vehicles. This is the same engine that Mitsubishi turbo-charged and used on the Conquest/Starion cars.
There are two youtube videos on this Challenger, and if youGoogle 1982 Dodge Challenger and you'll see it.
Collectible Automobile in 2008 stated "That finding one in good condition now will be a lot more, well, challenging than locating a decent non-muscle 1970-1974 Challenger, itself a rare commodity these days and not inexpensive either."
One auction site that had a 1978 Challenger stated,'We've seen a handful of these cars ever, and although rare when new, they've been nearly extinct for decades'
another "...we like these Mitsubishi-built pillarless coupes but can go years without seeing one on the streets" and this "Though these rebadged Mitsubishis were long maligned for their use of the Challenger nameplate, the recent J-car trend has seen some increase in popularity." Very few people even realize that the Challenger name was used between 1978 and 1983, and the Plymouth Sapporo was the luxury version, while the Challenger was the performance version.
The 1982 Dodge Challenger was Chrysler's best performance car in 1982.
This car was featured in Mopar Blog's Reader's Ride
Average selling price has been over $6,500 with some examples close to $10,000. Kelly Blue Book values the car over $6100, however their initial cost was several hundred dollars to low.
Buy it now, and I have additional items, (2) studded snow tires on (2) additional Factory wheels, not steel, but the stylized road wheels, just like on the Challenger and a center console section for the upgraded radio, a Mitsubishi RX-735 (itself a $150 radio), and an Alpine Equalizer 3023. In my original 1982, it had the AM/FM/Cass radio and I had the lpine EQ installed. I was going to do it here, but never installed it as the car was so original. Then a set of rear shocks. That I stached away. In all and easy over $500 additional goodies.
My shoulders and back issues prevent me from enjoying this car.
This is a rare opputunity to put a rare vehicle into their collection.
I will see about uploading more pictures and providing a link.
