1970 Dodge Superbee #'s 383 big block 4 speed ac buckets super solid car red
1970 Dodge Coronet Superbee
I have a very solid, very highly optioned, 1970 Dodge Superbee for sale. Please read the entire ad or you’ll be confused by pictures showing another car in the background as well as what comes with the car if the reserve is met and what’s included if the buy it now option is exercised.
Here’s the back story, I love 1970 Superbee’s, I think they’re one of the most aggressive looking muscle cars offered from the golden age of muscle cars. I’ve been looking off and on for seven or eight years for a solid car but as you probably know solid and Superbee are generally not found in the same sentence so I searched on. Eventually this car came up for sale locally and after seeing how solid it was I immediately made a deal to purchase the car. Finally, I found a nice solid car, not rust free but unusually solid for sure! I brought it home and waited for a slot to open up at the restoration shop I’ve used in the past and have been very happy with. My name rose to the top of the list, so I promptly brought the car in and started having the necessary rust repairs made. It wasn’t long after the restoration was started that a red 1970 Superbee V code 440 6 pack came up for sale that was further along the restoration process but a lot more money. Now what? I can purchase a red V code 1970 Superbee without the original motor, an automatic transmission and no air conditioning or keep my red numbers matching 1970 Superbee with a 383, 4 speed and air conditioning. I settled on purchasing the 440 6 pack which means I now had to pull this car out of the restoration shop and sell it.
It was a very solid car to begin with and now with all the money I invested in it you’ll see that much of the expensive and hard work has been completed with correct replacement panels. It received a new trunk floor, the original pan wasn’t bad but it was thin enough in a couple places to justify replacing, it’s a vinyl top car so of course it rusted in areas around the back glass so I had the back panel and roof corners replaced, the floors were in excellent condition except the driver’s side rear pan that was poorly replaced in the past at some point in time so I had that replaced to ensure things would be done right and look good, and the driver’s side apron had some rust through so I also had that replaced. As I expected the work was done with excellence, the only metal repair I see that it still needs is there is some rust through on the out rear quarters right behind the front and rear wheels. The rust through behind the front tires is so minor that in my opinion would it not require you to even purchase a repair patch but could be done in house by the body shop itself, I think the area rear of the back tires would need the small lower patch panels and of course it has some dings and dents that you would want to have the body shop repair along the way. The frame rails and structure of the car is incredible and you’ll be extremely pleased them. As I mentioned earlier, it does have its numbers matching engine and transmission in the car, I assume the rearend is original and certainly appears to be, but I don’t how to figure that out so I’ll let you decode that. I have not tried to get the car running, the engine needs to be rebuilt for a proper restoration so trying to do anything that might further damage it didn't make sense to me. It does have bucket seats, air conditioning and ralleye gauges so it is very, very well optioned. I also do have a decaying broadcast sheet along with the trim tag, I have not laminated the broadcast sheet yet, I’ll let the next owner decide what he or she wants to do with it. If the reserve is met the Superbee will sell with its original parts and without any new parts. If the buy it now is exercised I will include the following parts; I will exchange the core front buckets and core rear seat in the car for the pictured fully restored seats that are shown in the picture of the freshly painted car, (that's the V code Superbee I purchased and is not for sale or included in this auction nor is anything else in the picture), the new front and rear door panels that are pictured, the new black vinyl top, and the pair of new black Superbee ‘C’ stickers for the rear quarter panels. With those things in hand you're now very far through your interior restoration as well!
This is a great opportunity for someone to complete a lighter restoration on a super solid, highly optioned car. Between the actual purchase of the Superbee and the rust repair I have a significant amount of money invested in the car but you can save a lot by purchasing a car that is so solid. Rust repair is very expensive and you have very, very little to do on this one. I believe the car to be very complete, I can’t think of anything that it’s missing but if there is and you notice it please feel free to email me so I can update my auction and represent the car as accurately as possible. Sold as is, where is, a $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending and the balance is due in full within 7 days or upon pick up whichever comes first. The car is what it is and I can’t change it, it has a tremendous amount of positives but it still needs work and is 47 years old. I want you to be happy with your new car and for both of us to have a fun and stress free transaction. With that being said, if you’re unsure, ask. I will take any picture you need, I will meet you, an inspector, or a friend, just let me know what you need to feel comfortable with the car. I believe I have represented the car very accurately but you may see something different through your eyes and it’s important to me that you’re excited to get this car so please ask anything you would like to know before the auction ends, it’s too nice of a car for someone to be unhappy. Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
