"DUST IN THE WIND"
This 1969 Dodge A100 Van was customized from 1978-1983 with over 140 body modifications performed by the Stickle Brothers of Mentor, Ohio. The paint is real candy apple blue over silver and gold base accented in frosted black with airbrushed murals and pinstripes all covered with two gallons of clear. I have a list of the numerous body and mechanical modifications as well as a photo album documenting the entire build that will go to the new owner. The original builder told me he had $29,000 invested in the custom build of the van.
The Good:I have owned this van for 21 years and have driven over 36,000 miles in that time. Current mileage is approximately 114,800 miles. In that time, I have done alot of mechanical work to make this a reliable driver. It has the trusty 225 Slant 6 that has been mildly modified with a carb, cam, headers, and dual exhaust. It has a TorqueFlite trans with a B&M Mega Shifter. I added power steering with a tilt column. It has power windows with switches on the custom center console. The rear Cooper Cobra tires are less than a year old.
The Not So Good:All of the custom work and paint was done 34 years ago so everything is starting to show it's age. This is a very cool looking vintage custom that you can take to local cruise-ins but would need work to be competitive at large events. The paint is bubbling from the bottom of the gas cap down to the lower edge of the quarter. There is some rust and bubbling around the steel fender flares and wheel openings. Just above the body line above the passenger headlight there is a dent. There are rust spots on the chrome grille. The overall paint has general flaws from 34 years of use. The rear porthole windows have black tape around the edges to prevent water leaks. The two TV's do not work as there is no reception. The rear sink does not work as there is no holding tank although I do have a water pump for it that is included. The 8-track player is not functional as it runs off a second auxillary battery that is not installed in the van.
