Swinger with a crate 360/380 (installed) and the original 340 (crated)

Price: - Item location: Port Robinson, Ontario, Canada
Description:

1969 Dodge Dart

It's time to part with my baby. Bought this car from (I believe) the original owner in 1997 and completed the restoration in 1999. Under the hood is a Mopar 360 cid 380 HP crate motor (Part #P5249499) installed in 2000. The 'original' 340 motor (unstamped warranty block) can be included. All other numbers (transmission, rad support, truck lip) match.
727 Automatic transmission, power steering, power front disc brakes - all original and rebuilt.
8 3/4 SureGrip differential with 3.23 gears.
Currently sits on Mopar Performance Super Stock leaf springs and 14x6 Cragar SS wheels, aftermarket transmission cooler, aluminum radiator and electric fan, Mopar Performance orange box ignition, Holly 750cfm, TTI headers with JetHot coating and full TTI 3" exhaust including oversize chrome tips and Dynomax mufflers, Moroso solid motor mounts, Lokar throttle and kickdown cables, Daaco 2600 stall torque convertor, SunPro tach, MSD Blaster2 coil, Mopar Performance blue voltage regulator.
Though the torsion bars have never been removed, the rest of front suspension has been completely rebuilt including all neoprene bushings.
The Good:
  • The car has been properly stored and driven under 10K miles since the resto,
  • Car is extremely straight and believed to be totally rust/dent free.
  • The R6 "Scorch Red" paint is the original color but is now base/clear and can be considered near flawless.
  • The car has not been butchered and has the original fender tag.
  • Broadcast sheet, though missing a corner, is included. Also included is the 1969 Dodge Dart Operator's Manual and the original Warranty Booklet.
  • Sounds great; runs strong.
  • Care was taken when installing aftermarket parts to avoid excessive changes (holes drilled, etc) to an original car.
  • Most recently, driven only a few hundred miles each year and in nice weather only
  • Won 2nd place at Carlisle Mopar show in 2000 and the car looks just as good today

Less Than Perfect:
  • Original interior is in great shape but 'original', rubber floor has a small wear spot at the drivers feet but no other rips. (I opted for the original standard interior and rubber floor instead of a reproduction deluxe interior and carpet.)
  • Brakes are fair; though all rebuilt, the car loses power assist easily. (It has never been a problem for me but you might find it worrisome.)
  • I did not install a serpentine belt setup on the Magnum 360 but instead used the original PS pump, alternator and V belts (but it all works great).
  • TA Radials (205R14 front, 225R14 rear) are more than 5 years old and therefore should be replaced.
  • original windshield was not replaced because I was unable to find non-tinted (as original) glass locally. This one is fine but not perfect.
  • the turn signal does not cancel when turning left
In this auction, I will include the following if the buyer will pay for and arrange shipping but will not reduce the purchase price if the buyer declines the additional equipment:
  • the original 340 motor (with distributor, water pump and exhaust manifolds). This motor was never rebuilt by me and has been safely stored in the crate since removal. The 340 was running fine when put away but is likely in need of a rebuild. Note: the 340 is a warranty replacement block (unstamped) and therefore not numbers matching
  • steel wheels and full wheel covers
  • original leaf springs
  • original radiator and clutch fan
  • original torque convertor
Car is being sold as is. On request, I can provide a URL for more info on the resto and crate motor install as well as additional photos. Though I've tried my best to describe the car condition accurately, your perception and mine might be slightly different .. so please take this into account when bidding. I can't be responsible for differences in perception. (I'm probably being too critical; this car is impressive!) .
Shipping is the buyer's responsibility and buyer's expense but I'll try to be as helpful as I can.
US Buyers, importing a collector car is not a big deal. I'll work with you to get all paperwork in order.
Please ASK questions before you bid.
My reserve is well below the (single motor) appraised value. (Impending loss of storage/work area forces sale)
